Fix for Wolverine controller firmware Xbox app bug

Born2beSlicker

I have the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro and like some others the Xbox app is forcing us to update the firmware on a PC, it won’t let us into the app. I finally found a way to force through it.

When the box pops up saying Exit. Press Option + A face button to change your controller profile. This will let you manage the app under the message.

Press Y, then navigate to firmware update. This will let you update the firmware. It just worked for me.

Hi, the button that you hold to change controller profiles. The O button under the game capture button.

Try the other face buttons. Each one when pressed whilst holding the option button is mapped to a profile. The hope is to try and get the green box that you control when navigating the menus is go under the Firmware pop up box by switching controller profiles. Once one of those boxes go green, you can move. The firmware pop up will not leave the screen though, so you need to keep looking at the background to navigate the menus. Also make sure the dongle is unplugged and you’re wired, as you can’t update when the dongle is active.

Keep trying, there is definitely a bug there that can be exploited.

I’ve been trying to find a fix for this problem and will try this today when I am finished at work. Have you noticed any difference in its functionality? As in, any more disconnects, or anything of that sort? I’ve read some people trying workarounds akin to this and ended up bricking their controllers. Obviously I am trying to avoid that so just wanted to see what your experience with the controller post update has been like. Thanks!!

Also if anyones interested, I reached out to Razer support and they said that “We regret to inform you that, after extensive development and testing, we’ve determined that implementing the firmware update (v2.00.09.00_r1) directly through Xbox is unfortunately not feasible due to technical limitations. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

They then told me I could ask a friend to use their Windows PC, or worse, I could MAIL IT TO RAZER and they would do it for me. Yes, thats very nice they’d do that, but it shouldn’t be necessary in the first place!! Anyways thanks for any feedback!

I can’t say I’ve noticed any significant change to the performance other than my rumble motor no longer makes sounds, which is what the patch was intended to fix.

I don’t get why this patch wouldn’t be possible through the app and I find he practice terrible as those of us who don’t use Windows get shafted as they go back on their word that it will be updated via the app. If there has been any degradation of the performance, it must be small enough that it’s not really impacting me.
