Was directed here from Twitter about giving feedback for the Aether Light Bar. Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this. Just got it today and have some issues with it.

  • Gonna get the controversial one out of the way: While I love USBC, my PC and the USB hub I have for it have no usb-c ports. Would love for it to be usb-a or have a usb-c to usb-a dongle included.
  • Would love a way to mount a web cam on top of the lightbar whether that be a design change in the next version or an accessory (preferrable). Having my webcam off to the side is awkward and would much prefer to be able to have it centered.
  • I don’t like how the capacitive controls become unusable when I have it connected to Synapse. I don’t want to open synapse when I want to change the brightness or the warmth of the light.  I’m sure this can be fixed with a firmware/Synapse update which I think would be great.

Would also recommend just having it operate more plug in play.  As in, communication is through the USB-C connection itself rather than the wifi.  This may not be doable with the current design, however.

My 2.4 Ghz network is on a different subnet and I lose connection almost immediately when I switch my PC to a 5 Ghz network, even with the proper firewall rules in place (it works intermittently and then eventually disconnects without ever reconnecting).  At a minimum, it would be nice if the device was connected either across different wifi networks / subnets, or more ideally, through the Internet via the Synapse app.

I agree completely! Its a fantastic light that is let down by software. Having to use the phone app for a device that *plugs directly into the computer* is baffling, and only serves to have random disconnects between Synapse and the Aether Lightbar which desynchronizes Chroma effects. Also, the fact that the touch controls are *locked out* when Synapse is in control (which is really *only* useful when you want the Lightbar to sync with your battlestation colors) is infuriating. I feel like these issues could easily be resolved with a firmware update, and would only make the product even better. An offline/’dumb’ mode that treats the Lightbar as a PC peripheral, sans any voice control/matter gimmickry, would be great, unless the GamerRoom App/Synapse desynchronization issue can be remedied.

Same here. i dont like that im locked out of manual control once Synapse takes control of the light bar. Please give us the options to have the chroma synced with the pc and let us have manual control on the light brightness. I have also noticed my light bar turns on when i switch on my pc. I want the light bar to be off until i need it.
