What do you guys think Razer will showcase in CES 2019?

CES 2017 featured Project Valerie and Project Ariana.
CES 2018 featured Project Linda and other products.

While the above featured concept products, Razer also unveils some of the products they're planning to release for the year. Last year at CES 2018, Razer revealed the Razer Nommo, the Razer Mamba Hyperflux + Firefly Hyperflux, and a collaboration with Netflix and Philips Hue.

For CES 2019, we know that Razer will be collaborating with Microsoft for a new product for Xbox One. We should be expecting more to come aside from this, especially if Razer wants to win the Best of CES award again after failing to do so for 2018.

My guess for their big reveal is the shortly leaked "Razer Opus" which is likely to be an audio related device. I'm also guessing and hoping that the next would be Synapse 3 supporting more legacy devices such as the Naga Epic, Orbweaver Chroma, Kraken 7.1 V2, Tiamat 7.1 V2, and others. Another could be a Razer branded Desktop since there is a product page for it. There's a possibility that they also unveil a Chroma powered monitor.

It's also quite possible for Razer to unveil the GeForce 20 powered Blade 15 there but it's a bit unlikely since that is when Nvidia will be unveiling the GeForce mobility lineup and I doubt they will feature the new Blade 15 immediately after Nvidia reveals the new mobile GPU lineup.

What do you guys think will show up?

Why not a gaming console from Razer ?

I think there will be a big focus on the whole microsoft / xbox partnership, since that will likely open a lot of new console gamers to Razer if it is advertised all over. I also expect a couple things like in the past years, where it is a very cool concept but not really near being a real thing yet for a good price, such as Project Valerie.

Last year they also had some new products like the Huntsman Elite that got leaked ahead of time since a few press people posted videos / photos of it when it was in Razer's hotel room type press room, I guess they were getting feedback for the new purple switches. I feel like there may be something like that again where some new products not really shown fully at CES will get leaked again.

Probably cool Project with ladies naming like Wanda, Cathy, Julia etc, and definitely not project Bob or MichaelxD

Aren't they named after the ex of the person that came up with the idea of the project?

That would be really nice. I've been waiting for the GeForce 20 laptops to come out since I'm due for an upgrade. Hoping to get a slim and light gaming laptop to develop games in college.

Although I don't expect it, it would be really great if Razer updates the Razer Naga Epic into a Naga Trinity Epic. I would also really love to pair that up with a new Razer Orbweaver or a new Razer Keypad with Razer Opto-Mechanical Switches like the Huntsman.

Whatever they do, I just hope that the prototypes aren't stolen again. That was the SADDEST thing ever.
My prediction is another case, perhaps the Lian Li partnership they showed off last year. And possibly a monitor.
Honestly a case and monitor is all that razer is missing. Other than that we may see another wild concept product that'll never be released.

It would be cool to see them get into the prebuilt business with a slim form factor case built in house.

Yeah, a partnership with other companies to create Desktops and Monitors isn't anything new but it would be interesting to see a completely in-house made monitor and system. I don't think Razer has ever entered the Desktop market without any partnerships with other companies so it would be interesting to see what they could do in this department.

With all this recent talks of monitors, I wouldn't be surprised if Razer actually presents a 3-in-1 Monitor similar to Project Valerie except that it is in the form of a Monitor instead of a Laptop. I don't think this is something that has been done before and I believe that Razer has the technology to pull this off if they were able to put this into a Laptop. It would be unpacked as a thick looking display but can deploy two screens on it's sides so the user has a choice of playing with 1, 2, or 3 screens. It would, of course, feature Chroma lighting and be THX Certified. This would be amazing not just for playing games but also for workstations. As an aspiring video game developer, this would be an amazing product to showcase.

Did I get it right @mltan ?

Were the prototypes ever recovered?

It's here! Finally, a new Razer Blade with the RTX 20 GPU!!!

Project Linda looks awesome, but can you actually plug a Razer Core to Linda (wait ... that came out in a weird way) to be able to play modern games at 60fps on a 27" 120hrz Display?

if yes, then you have a customer right here! :wink_:

Project Linda was revealed at CES 2018.

Android itself would need to get support for eGPUs before Linda could support it.
There really aren't enough games/applications for Android out there that could benefit from an external GPU.

Most applications are designed with that in mind.

It'd be pretty dope though!

I guess it is "just" a question of time, until we manage to have this level of processing capacity in a "10w" device.
"it would be dope" indeed :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:.

I know the Raptor can be connected to the Razer phone, but imagine modifying the OS to integrate "hot plug" eGPU connection - that would have been an earthquake on CES, leaving the concurrence far behind.

What would actually be very interesting is if Razer can repurpose the Nvidia Tegra into a mobile device. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon is the gold standard, it would be interesting if a mobile device would deviate from it and use an SoC that takes advantage of Nvidia's technology. While the Tegra has never been used on smartphones before, it has been used in Android devices such as the Google Pixel C and the Nvidia Shield.

It would also be interesting if Razer uses a custom Snapdragon 855 for the Razer Phone 3 that uses Nvidia GeForce GPU instead of the Qualcomm Adreno GPU. Or they could even use a custom Snapdragon 8cx instead of a Snapdragon 855 for more power.

However, using a custom SoC would increase the price by a lot and would be difficult to sell. But it is interesting to think about when defining what it truly means to be a "gaming" mobile device.

Great idea, but beware connecting egpu on such small device with limited cooling solution same with holding time bom without clock:smile_: (joke) Let’s talk seriously:rolleyes: it would be super bottleneck world due thermal throttling...wait before talking that, egpu need m2 slot or Thunderbolt connection. I believe atm smallest TB3 device is asus transformers Pro 3, the tablet, and it’s unusable due lag because thermal throttling for bad cooling design. I believe dave2d has review about that, since then i didn’t find tablet that support TB3 anymore, correct me if I’m wrong:wink_:

Yes I was expecting also tegra on RP1 launch, Nintendo switch use that as well btw.
@RocketSkates93,
I think you are right, if Razer could find a way to connect the Razer phone to a SoC technology, then all the processing capacity (CPU and GPU) could be in the external Laptop shell, along with an active TB3 connector hub to keep 40gb of transfer rate, an external battery, extra SSD, touch screen and Chroma keybord :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_: that would be soo cool! :smile_:

@Joikansai,
Using SoC, the heating of the phone wouldn't be anymore an issue as the Nvidia GPU would have its own cooling system in the Laptop shell.
As for the Bus, maybe a specific and proprietary Razer connector on the phone could work, but indeed that would imply a redesign of the Phone blueprint to enable M2 or PciE connection to the phone core processing unit
Once this is achieved then connecting a eGPU would be piece of cake. ,

Android is just a software layer, open source OS, so it evolves at each iteration - it is as well, just a question of time before this feature will be native.

Razer RnD dept. hope you read this post! This is the future we are talking about, right here!
