Thank you so much in advance for your help. I am looking at getting this laptop (Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop 2019: Core i7-9750H 6 Core | RTX 2060 | 15.6" FHD 1080p 144Hz | 16GB RAM | 512GB SSD - CNC Aluminum - Chroma RGB Lighting - Thunderbolt 3 Compatible) and would like to use it in my home office via a docking station as well as elsewhere around the house. I generally use my PC for MS office, videos, and light to intermediate gaming (Cities Skylines, Stellaris, etc).
I have not set up a docking station before so I would like to ask a few questions about what I will need. I am not sure if links are allowed, so I've placed the names of the items I am looking to purchase in my post.
As an FYI I am looking at buying this monitor (Dell S-Series 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Gaming Monitor (S2719DGF); QHD (2560 x 1440) up to 155 Hz; 16:9; 1ms Response time; HDMI 2.0; DP 1.2; USB; FreeSync; LED; Height Adjust, tilt, Swivel & Pivot ) and this speaker set (Bose Companion 20 Multimedia Speaker System).
Essentially, I want the system to be plug and play, where I can just easily plug my laptop into the docking station and be good to go.
My questions are as follows. I apologize if these are fairly basic but I have not set up a docking station before.
1) Is there a good basic docking station that you would recommend?
2) What other peripherals/cables will I need aside from a surge protector?
3) I see that the laptop will not charge from a USB cable -- when I want to use the laptop elsewhere, I am assuming I would need to either move the power supply or buy a new one, is this correct? I wonder if that might get annoying.
4) Any advice on how to make the set-up less cluttered? I am thinking of buying a laptop stand, but I wonder if that might just lead to more visible wires.
Much appreciate any advice. I am also willing to hear that this is just a dumb idea and that I should just buy a separate desktop, but I do like the convenience of being able to have everything on one system, and feel like a desktop wouldn't give me much additional benefit given that I wouldn't use it for heavy gaming.
