I once burned off the coating from my keycaps because I used too much isopropyl alcohol to wipe them down each week.
Mmm since I have OCD, I sanitize ALL my stuff with disinfectant..way before covid19 ...i think since 2005.
Throughout the years if something is touch by someone's else other than me and it's unsanitisable, it gets thrown away.
So my way of taking care of my gear:
1. No Food or Drinks around
2. Sanitize hands and gear prior to using
3. Never let anyone touch my gear
For example:
When there is a issue with my internet and a technical team is required to come in my apartment and fix the connection, I usually greet em with gloves on the door and open a old laptop so they set up the router and not touch my current laptop or razer keyboard...because I can bear the thought of throwing out an old working laptop, but not my razer keyboard or my current laptop.
I do have a bad habit of smoking and it's bad since dust building up but with a set cleaning schedule it's no issue.

You are tearing me apart my friend, promise me you will make sandwich and you will eat it in front of your PC😅
Sorry but I love my BW Elite too much to stain it this way. :big_grin_:
My first HP keyboard is still 100% fanctional and i cleaned it with alchohol before in a razer's
cardboard box xD
^^ hahaha that gif is fantastic!

I think anyone who affords to get a Blade is somehow automatically induced in taking care of it.
Totally agree on this, hahaha! If I have a razer laptop, I am not just going a simple cloth to clean it, might buy a micro fiber towel. LOL

I don't eat in front of my PC so, I don't have to worry about preserving it form food.
For the rest, I clean my rig and setup every 6 months with an air compressed can and some pencils.
And I change my thermal paste every year.

I used to be careful particularly with new expensive tech items but then I realized I was holding myself back from using the hardware as it was intended. So I dont use screen protectors or cases on my devices anymore, I know I risk damaging things but if a phone lasts me 2 years I think its job is done.
I definitely do my absolute best to keep my stuff clean as well. I used to work in IT and boy, some of the grody keyboards you'd see would make my eyes revolt in horror. I've never understood how some folks can use gear when it's all slick and oily / crusty with gunk.
My primary machine is a blade advanced, so it's imperative that it stays clean. If I eat around my computer I'll put a paper towel over the keyboard and trackpad while I eat. This way I avoid getting crumbs on it, just in case. I always wash my hands afterwards. I have a thing about oilly stuff on my hands to begin with, so in general I avoid getting residual stuff on my hands haha!
Every weekend I'll wipe the screen with a microfiber if it's looking dusty. Every few months I'll hit the vents with a vac to make sure no dust has accumulated.
A cleaning-your-Razer-gear themed thread!
You read my mind.
For me, a clean setup and peripherals in good condition say a lot about their owner.
If you take care of the things you bought with money then I know you're an organized and meticulous person. Not to mention you are caring, about the stuff you own and in general.
I like those people.
Girls, can you tell I'm a Virgo yet? Scorpios and Tauroses hit me up in the dms
lol
The Razer gear I own is like new. It looks like new. My Goliathus and Deathadder Elite don't get the time to gather dust or dirt cause I use isopropyl and a dust feather to have them pristine all the time.
My Kraken have seen some drops but their appearance is like the one they have out of the box.
ps
Thanks a ton for the Silver on last week's TotW Dekades!
I hadn't gotten Nice since April. It's always awesome to see those in my notifications!
Have a great day!
Hello friends,
I regularly use a cloth lightly dampened with water to remove dust from the screen and the computer, I also use the vacuum cleaner with the fine nozzle in soft suction mode to remove the dust under the keys of my Razer Ornata keyboard or in the air vents of the PC. If there is a lot of dirt, the glass cleaner is very effective.
In France, we all sit together in the dining room for meal times. We always wash our hands before eating. I never eat at the computer. Technology is not used during the meal.
We speak with the guests, children and her husband.
It is really a moment of complicity as if we were at a restaurant. :)
I just drink water on the computer and if I have to eat a piece of fruit or snack. I do it in the kitchen.
I clean my keyboard mpnthly to avoid dust building up
A few things I do to keep my blade in good shape after 4+ yrs of ownership
-shut the lid, keeps the keyboard less dusty
-dont eat near the blade (I've seen others eat cheetohs then touch their keyboards, yuck)
-wipe down the screen weekly with a specific cleaner and cloth
-once or twice a month wipe down the exterior of the blade (I use simple lysol/clorox wipes)
-when not in use for long periods of time, unplug and place inside slip case
I think anyone who affords to get a Blade is somehow automatically induced in taking care of it.
I have a tendency to take to my setup with a can of compressed air every once and a while, top to bottom. I air out my desktop, keyboard and laptop, and any sitting dust (ex. on my desk), I wipe up with a microfiber cleaning cloth. I also wash my Firefly hard edition regularly, since it can get a bit dirty.
I am so frustrated to clean my keyboard.... There are no clips when purchased the Huntsman TE..
The dust was accumulated so quickly!!! I need to clean my battle station every week with alcoholic paper
Really required steps to keep the our computer hardware neat and clean which will help in its long usage from Dekades and the gang.
What i do usually and always is,
- Try never to eat or drink anywhere near the computer/console setup. Dont want to take a chance at all.
- Every Saturday/Sunday along with cleaning the house, i clean the full computer setup with a brush and cloth.
- I also completely turn off the routers both Broadband/4G,every sunday night before going to sleep. To clear its memory blocks and any heat accumulation issues.
- Always shutsdown the full computer/laptop/console setup after use.
I'll clean all my hardware once a week using rubbing alcohol and microfiber cloth. Simple lol
Avoid placing and/or eating infront of my system.
If i'd own a Blade i'd probably be more careful with a laptop but since i dont, i'm not. I'm pretty careful with all the Razer gear i own tho. Some of them break cause of the usage there's nothing you can do about it. I agree with food not being eaten near any gear but i'm trying to wash my hands when i remember.
It is better to take the laptop to the vendor if it still under warranty.
I am so afraid that any accident occurs during cleaning the laptop.
im covering my mouse and keyboard before i leave for school to avoid dust buildup
