Blackwidow Elite Volume Wheel randomly decrease and increase volume.

Hi All,

Do you all have issue with Blackwidow Elite Volume Wheel randomly jumping to any volume level despite turning the wheel to increase sound level?
May I know any solution to this issue? Is it a software or hardware issue?

Thank you!

I'm having the exact same issue, the volume wheel seems to make the volume jump all around regardless of which way I spin it. Seems like it may be hardware issue but I would love if there was a software fix for this. Really annoying.
I am having the same issue, I tried playing around with the mapping and the best I can do is make the wheel always work in one direction or the other. It seems like there is an issue with it determining which direction the wheel is spinning. I'm also assuming it is probably a hardware issue, but I would like to know what support says because this seems like an ongoing known issue.

How were you able to get it working as a unidirectional slider. That is better than nothing at least. Appreciate it.

If you go into Synapse, then go to keyboard you should see an image of your keyboard, you can click on the buttons and reconfigure them. When you click on the volume wheel you should see Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute, simply change either Volume Up or Down to the other and the wheel will be Unidirectional control. I also changed my Previous Track button to Mute and the Mute to Volume Down as well, its not great, but it works, hope this helps.

That is perfect, thank you for the additional info.
I had same issue on my Blackwidow elite, fixed by using contact cleaner spray.
I think this is similar to the switch joycon drift problem (dust get inside the wheel).
Hope this information may help.
I get the same issue. I've had volume jumping since the day I bought the keyboard but never thought to look much into it

Same issue here. I will look at making it unidirectional as well and see if it works for me.
@Way.Chang did you have to disassemble the volume knob to apply the spray? Can you provide any more detail?

Thanks!

No need disassembly. Only disconnect the keyboard, spray around the wheel, spray into the gap at right, then turn the wheel until the cleaner dry.
Well, I ordered some contact cleaner spray and got it today. Definitely improved. So it seems that the problem is caused by dusk or gunk. I am extremely pleased. Thanks so much for the advice!

Definitely improved but still not perfect. I think there's still dust in there that I can't get out with air spray. Is there anything else I can do or should I just bring my keyboard to a Razer support store?
Curios why there was no official response directly from Razer. I have also been having the same issue for almost a year.
Gah! This has been annoying me for a good 6+ months. Good to know I'm not the only one. I guess I'll go get some contact cleaner and give it a try.
I have the same issue. Also similar thread

Possible fix I am testing now

The same here, huntsman elite keyb.
This is not a software issue but they used cheap bad hardware.
For a keyboard at this price range I expect the best, not this rubbish thing....

Ummm... what kind of "contact" cleaner? As in eye sight corrective contacts...or electrical contact... ????
Hi all.

I ended up opening the keyboard and cleaning the inside of the volume knob twice over the last month.
Whoever designed this knob should be...fired.
I love everything about this keyboard apart from the volume knob which is the bane of my existence haha.

Twice so far it got to the point when the volume would go up all the way to 100 after me just turning it by one click.
(One time it actually did it on its own in the middle of the night...)
It would then stay there and not respond to any knob adjustments until it would decided to start working again.

Furthermore it would start decreasing the volume when I was increasing the volume and vice versa. Not to mention random jumps where one click would increase volume by 10 points or more or less at random.

Each time I opened the damned thing I just gave it good blow and swiped 2 sensors inside with a dry cotton swab.

I just finished cleaning of it few minutes ago. Although it is not as accurate as it was when I took the keyboard out of the box now, it is manageable.

I'm now at the point when 10 clicks of the knob will give me increase in 22 volume points on average, which shows that out of 10 clicks, 1 adjusts volume by 4 points instead of 2. Sometimes I will loose one click instead.

It is shocking, overcomplicated design.
If you design optical sensors to control volume you need to make sure they are isolated from dust and particulate getting in the way of the sensors. In case of this knob you can actually slide thin piece of paper inside.

I would not be complaining if this was 30 euro keyboard bought in Tesco....
At this price point....it is...shocking.
