Chroma Connect doesn't detect anything

I've just bought a Blackwidow Elite and installed the latest version of Synapse from the Razer website.

I've been trying to get my head around how it works. One of the things that appealed to me when buying it was the chroma connect feature. I've tried setting this up but it doesn't detect any games or software on my PC. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software from scratch but no luck. It just doesn't see anything on my PC that it recognises.
