External Display on Razer Blade 15 (2019)

I own a Razer Blade 15 Mid 2019 Base model with the GTX 1660Ti GPU. I also have an external display that supports up to 180Hz. I tried all kinds of different things to display in 1080p 144hz but no matter what I do, it seems like it's always capped at 60hz. Here are some of the things I did.
1. Changed HDMI cables. Checked the cables with other devices and checked that it was HDMI 2.0 cables. I plugged it into the dedicated HDMI port and also used the thunderbolt port to connect it with a hub. Didn't work
2. Tried using display port. Using the mini DP port I used a mini DP to DP 1.4 to connect and yet it's still capped at 60hz.
3. Messed around the settings and used control panel display settings, normal display settings, NVIDIA control panel, razer synapse etc etc. Nothing let me go beyond 60hz. Even tried going to bios to look around and tried disabling NVIDIA Optimus but upon searching online, apparently, my laptop can't disable Optimus.
4. Thought it was my monitor and messed around with the OSD and yet nothing.

With a lot of time and money that I spent on making my external display work in 144hz, I'm starting to think that my laptop just can't pump out 144hz. I tried searching online for some answers and with no luck, I landed on this forum. If anyone knows what I should do, please let me know.
Thank you.

What's the model number of the external monitor so I can check its specifications? Try to update the GPU driver by following the steps here and while using an HDMI connection, turn off adaptive sync on the monitor. If that didn't help, PM me the serial number of your laptop so I can check for other steps that may help address your concern. I'll be locking this thread to curb our conversation to private.
