Google Chrome defaulting to GPU in laptop instead of GPU in Core X Chroma

When I boot up my laptop, Google Chrome defaults to the GPU in my laptop instead of the GPU in my Core X Chroma. After booting up, my CAD software (Onshape) tells me that I have reduced rendering peformance, and then when I go to chrome://gpu in the browser search bar, it shows my Intel Iris Xe graphics as being the active GPU. I have to relaunch Google Chrome (I use chrome://restart) for the GPU in my Core X Chroma to become active in Google Chrome. I'm using Windows 10 with a Dell XPS 13 9310 laptop, and the GPU in my Core X Chroma is a Radeon RX Vega 56 (MSI). Does anyone have suggetions for setting up my system so that I don't need to relaunch Google Chrome to have it use the right GPU?

This is highly likely more of an OS limitation than anything else. But you can manually set Chrome to run on RX Vega 56 via the AMD Catalyst Control Center. Turning on hardware acceleration on Chrome should also help automate the switching.
I already have hardware acceleration on in my Chrome settings. I don't have the catalyst control center as far as I can tell. Would it solve the issue? Is it worth installing?

It's not a guaranteed fix, but it's worth a shot. By the way, does this happen even when the eGPU is plugged in before launching Chrome?
Yes, this happens when the eGPU is plugged in from the moment that I boot up my laptop. If you have any other suggestions (that preferably don't involve installing things), let me know, thanks.
