Hi all newbie here with a problem,

I have a 2015 Mac computer and just got the Razer Blackwidow chroma V2 tournament edition. Since I turned on and plugged the keyboard, the fn locked was on and I can't change it. Anyone can help me with this? I installed the Synapse program and still I can't change the function key.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Go into Synapse 3 Beta and go to your keyboard, then click on performance or controls which ever and scroll down you should be able to switch the key control, if that doesn't work go to the nvidia application on desktop which has a similar system, where you download, upload, and update your drivers for your graphics cards and computer drivers.
Hi! Thank you for your reply! I will try it today and let you know if it works.

Go into Synapse 3

The Insider has a Mac computer, and you know why Synapse 3 does not like it~~~
Unless if the Insider is running Windows within the Mac computer.

Whether this nvidia application can change the key config is a question.
Synapse should be used for changing the key config on RAZER keyboards. Otherwise changing RAZER keys on other applications can cause software re-alteration on the keyboard. Which can disable fn key from being detected on Synapse. Not guaranteed for sure~~~

I hope you do not start hating RAZER, unfortunately Synapse 3 is not compatible with MacOS.

If you are using MacOS, I think you might have installed Synapse 2 instead of 3; and RAZER BlackWidow Chroma Tournament Edition V2 keyboard features cannot be interacted / altered with Synapse 2.

The keyboard should work normal on Apple products even without the Synapse 3. It is the Synapse 3 features which you will not have interaction with if you are using MacOS.

I can see alternative fix or ways~~

  • If you still want to use MacOS; grab a temporary Windows 10 computer, install Synapse 3 and change the fn key configuration. I think it will save that fn key configuration so that it will work better on the MacOS.
  • This web is used for changing the fn key configuration of an Apple keyboard, but see if it works on RAZER keyboard.
  • Otherwise, Windows 10 welcomes you.

You are right about not being able to upload Synapse 3, I was looking in case there was a beta program that I have missed somehow. The same goes with Nvidia. I can't download the program.

I can't hate RAZER... the keyboard and mouse look way too cool!

Also, I have another keyboard and mouse that I bought for my other daughter and it works. The other keyboard was installed without problems. Connected the keyboard, downloaded the Synapse 2, and voila. The other computer is a Mac 2013 running with the Catalina OS.

The computer I am trying to connect this keyboard is a Mac 2014 with the Big Sur upgraded system. Your idea of trying changing the setting using a windows computer gave me the idea of using my other daughter's computer to make the change. I will try that, then using a windows computer and we will see.

Thank you for your help,

Good luck!!
The keyboard works on the other computer. No clue why it doesn't work... maybe there is a compatibility issue with Big Sur.

Sorry to hear that @2325101 This is the far extent of my capabilities with supporting MacOS.
Whether RAZER will work on Synapse 3 for MacOS is a question, but there were threads in the past that it is not going to happen soon. Unless Apple works something out with RAZER.

Two Windows 10 options, which you might not like. If you still want to use your BlackWidow properly

  • Install Windows 10 on your Mac computer using boot camp, click here for more info
  • Windows 10 computer (non Apple product) welcomes you
I think I will try installing Windows 10 on my Mac. I will let you know how it goes when I get the chance to do it. Thank you for your help,
The console chips away at the other PC. No piece of information why it doesn't work... possibly there is a similarity issue with Big Sur.
