Purpose of mod : Much improve clarity, volume and getting rid of the muffled sound from the original inbuild speakers.

Model tested on : my personal stealth 13 2019 model with mx150

Is mod reversible ? : Yes, relatively simple mod.

Disclaimer: do it at your own risk and at your own will.

Step 1 : open up the case and speakers are located on the left and right section respectively , just beneath the grille.

Each speakers are held by 2 ( + ) screws. Unscrew them

Step 2 : Flip over the speaker component( there's NO Need to remove the wiring)

You will see the speaker for each side - is fitted with a twin firing speaker transducer. The reason why the speaker sounded muffled and soft ( even at 80 -90% volume) is because the speaker manufacturer had stick on a thin black layer of mesh. This mesh is meant to prevent dust as some other laptops designs has large grille spaces. The speaker is made by 3rd party OEM factories.

This speaker mesh film is redundant on the razer stealth 13 as the laptop speakers grilles has mirco holes (unlike dell or HP where the grille spacing are huge) and underneath the stealth 13 grilles , there is yet another layer of dust prevention mesh applied ( on the laptop chassis) , hence the speaker itself the mesh is redundant. It will only block and degrade the sound clarity and output.

Step 3 : remove the outer sponge cushion foam seal first - black colour foam ( it is double sided taped).

Step 4 : Finally Remove the mesh film ( it is also double sided taped) . The mesh is quite rigid and durable , it will not tear easily. You will see the speaker cone (silver in colour)

Now , keep the mesh in a safe storage , just in case you wish to fit it back at later dates , and stick back the black cushion foam. The black cushion foam is needed for better fit and sound seal.

Step 5 : install back the speaker and test the sound differences.

I will recommend you mod 1 speaker first. Play any audio / youtube music track and compare the differences yourself. Mod the other speaker if you like the audio quality. If you think the original speakers with the film sound better , go ahead and stick back the mesh.

Summary : The final result after this mod is the clarity of the speaker will be improved ( especially at the highs and mids tones) and you can tell the difference when watching youtube or listening to vocal tracks. The overall volume will also increase - due to the removal of the mesh which unfortunately, acted as sound barrier. Will this mod improved the bass much ? No , this model of the speaker has very little bass. The speaker itself is too slim and small and speaker cones looks very tenny.
