RB15 Advanced 2019 RTX2070 - Fan noise

Hey guys. I've had my RB15 for just over a week now and have started noticing the laptop makes a little "clicking" sound whenever the fans start to kick in. Kind of reminiscent of HDDs when they make a clicking sound (just not as loud).

Just wanted to know if this sound is normal? I did just replace the SSD in my unit with a Samsung EVO Plus 970 1Tb So hoping that I didn't screw something up.

It would be better if you upload that noise, continually clicking sound like HDD even on low volume but noticeable and especially if it’s disturbing you on normal usage isn’t normal. Fans loud sounds anyway normal but something comes with it like clicking Fans noise may be a potential fans defect in the future.
Sure I will upload it later.

Not my video but pretty much doing the same thing. It sound like a squeeky sounding click whenever the fan ramps up and turns on.

Reproducible everytime I manually turn on the fan in Razer Synapse (when fans are initially off/inactive).

Man it’s too short, I wish it could be longer and good enough to notice the issue. Can’t hear with my Apple phone but noticed it with my RP2, if it’s continuously making that click then you should RMA it, i don’t think your ssd upgrade has something to do with it, unless you open or take off other parts for upgrading ram or repasting.

Yeah it's short because it's just that short sound whenever the fans initiate. Better to listen to with headphones.

I only opened to change SSD and nothing else. Cleaning the fans with compressed air wouldn't have affected it right? I just can't tell if the sound was already there before I opened it up. But can anyone else with the RB15 confirm if they're makes the same sound when fans kick in?

lol yeah you did, I just saw it. I wanted to see if anyone else here could help me validate whether the sounds are normal.

Like i said it is low level mechanical clicking sound whenever the fans kick in (from an initial completely off state). when the fans are on but speed up/slow down, there is no clicking sound.

When they turn off and then kick in again the sound is produced again.

Could someone with their RB15 Advanced try manually turning on/off/on their fans and see if they can hear any mechanical sound before the fans actually start spinning?

Sorry for late reply, yes now here is 12:30 midnight I can hear that noise on my 2018 1070maxq Blade. I think it’s how pwm fans on Blade and most gaming laptops work, rattle sound at start and when stop. I noticed this before but so far no issues after almost a year gaming usage.

No worries mate. Yeah I've been reading around that other RB15 owners also have the same noise as well as other gaming laptop threads noting the same thing about the PWM fans. Glad it's not a defect/fault, because I'd hate to have to RMA my laptop. Everything else about it is perfectly fine (except mild coil whine which I've learnt to deal with as most other laptops have coil whine to some degree).
