Swollen battery and general issues related to overheating 16 months after first use

Hello,

I purchased a Blade 15 advanced model (early 2022) back in Jan. 2021 and received in somewhere in March 2021. Very quickly (a few weeks in), I started experiencing random sudden loss of signal to external display (via HDMI)

I was not too concerned, as I thought my external display might be the problem and it did not occur too often at first. However, this behavior got more and more frequent.

Last week, all hell broke loose:

  • A few BSOD in Windows 11, with error codes which seamed to be related to video card
  • Random black screen on main laptop display, at which point laptop is unresponsive and just reboots on it's own after 2 or 3 minutes

Since one year warranty is out (of course), I had to use the service of a local repair shop in Montreal. Here's what they found:

  • Battery was dangerously swollen
  • Both GPU and CPU thermal paste needed replacement

The removal of the battery and applying fresh thermal paste did not fix the black screen issue. Now I'm afraid months of over heating caused by swollen battery and degraded ventilation caused irreparable damages to key component(s) (most likely video card).

A little Google search seams to highlight this as a recurring issue with Razer laptop:

There is also a potential class action related to the problems I just described:

Please note this is my second Razer laptop, and the first one also experienced the same swollen battery issue. However this time, problem occured only after 16 months of usage.

For a CA$ 4,000+ laptop, one should expect better quality and longer shelf life.

I need to know what my options are, anyone can help?

It's best if you can send the laptop to our repair center for it to be checked thoroughly. I can start a case and forward it to the RMA Team to initiate a repair request. Please PM me the serial number and share a copy of your receipt so I can validate its model and check its warranty status for documentation purposes.
