If you can use it at all for your PC, why not? But as for advantages, I don't think there are any.

If you have the optical input in your sound card you can use it on your pc and it will give you better sound then usb 😛
the instructions from Razer say to connect only the USB doggle to PC.
If my mainboard has optical output do i have a benefit to use it to connect it to thresher's USB doggle ?
Or i can have surround only with the USB doggle?
Please let's reply someone who tried it or any link with specific tests
Generally does the surround in PC works same good as PS4 with that headset

Device dont matter this can be ps4, xbox or pc the only limitation is that you must have optical input if you have you can connect headset whatever device you want. For sound 7.1 should work on optical input if i remember correctly base station menage that. You can always change sound type in windows sound device menager for your headset 😛
i was misunderstood
First of all the topic is for thresher 7.1, not the ultimate version with the dock
The manual says that in PC you connect ONLY the usb dongle, not the optical, dont point if you have optical in PC or not.
So my questions are
1) surround 7.1 works OK in PC only with the USB dongle? does anyone tried a game in PC with surroung eg Battlefield
2) if i connect the optical to PC do i benefit from something or not?

Can you help me with that? In windows sound manager i see "Razer Thresher 7.1" name but in it's properties the sound is "stereo", as all headphones. Not an option to change that

Regular version of this headset dont have optical input. If you write about this kind of connection you talk about ultimate version and there you have 2x optical input. For your regular version you have:
Wired Connection, Analog 3.5 mm
Wireless Connection, RF 2.4 GHz, up to 40 ft / 12m
This is copy/paste from razer xtore tech spec. to be clear ^^

On system try click speker/sound icon with right mouse click and and select sounds windows will open there go to Playback select headset click right mouse buton and properties last tab should be "surround sound" there you can change sound type.

Thresher 7.1, same with ultimate but without base station, just a USB dongle for connection

Thresher 7.1 has it's own button for surround on/off, on the right earcup

Read what you ask in first post you ask about optical cable that regular version dont have so in first place for what purpose is this topic ? optical input have only ultimate version of this headset so i give you answear based on ultimate version that have it. For you it dont change the fact you dont have this input.

Yeah 7.1 is audio enchancent for sure. There you can cheage sound format from default dolby you have to windows sonic. and i'm afraid this totally difrent story. Tresher headset dont offer you any kind of support on pc based on changing the settings like eq.

On tech spec. in store is missing line with this connection. For your question you have answear upper on my post optical connection for any device give you the same it dont matter if you have headset regular or ultimate. Opticial input give you better sound quality and you can still use 7.1 becose it dont change anything in this case
