Mhm do you think the wrist cushion is detacheable?

Tried it again this morning and had to make some edits.

Yes it's detachable. The cushion itself feels better (denser, more cushy foam) than the one on my Ornata. I like the slope of the wrist rest WAY better than the Ornata one too too, and the Ornata is really comfy--the Blackwidow Elite is just an overall improvement there. My only complaint would be that the magnet between the wrist rest and keyboard isn't quite strong enough that when I lean on the wrist rest with my elbows or lean forward on it, it pushes up and closer to the keyboard. Over time, the cushioned edge of the rest creeps up and close to the keys and the space bar. I keep pushing it back down into place. This is probably because the slope is different and I could always solve this be leaning my elbows on the desk and not the wrist rest, but it's SO comfortable I'd rather put my elbow there than a hard desk top. :big_grin_:

The iconic gaming keyboard that needs no introduction—this is the Razer BlackWidow Elite: http://rzr.to/BlackWidowElite

It starts with the switch—Green, Orange, Yellow.

We’ve improved the Razer Mechanical Switches with the addition of dual side walls for greater stability and bonus armor against dust and liquids. Throw in the 80 million keystroke life span and you’ve got yourself a winning formula.

Rejoice! Dedicated media controls are here.

Even before the launch of the Razer Huntsman, YOU, the community has continued to lust for dedicated media keys on the BlackWidow line. The all-new BlackWidow sports a brand-new look along with the addition of a multi-function digital dial and dedicated media keys. Oh did we mention that we’re keeping the fan-favorite plush leatherette wrist rest too?

Unlock true gaming potential with Hypershift.

Unlock an arsenal of killer combos using Razer Hypershift—you can rebind each key to the skill of your choice or record multiple keystrokes into macros for any situation.

Razer new products are always sick! Love it!
Dang, looking good...
What are the dimensions of the keyboard?
Got mine today - yellow swtches - and at first was a bit worried. I tried the Logitech G513 a week ago and was devastated about the loud spring noise every single switch makes when released. I gave it 2/5 stars on Amazon (Germany) and another platform describing my experience and my disappointment.

Now the Razer Black Widow Elite has that, too, BUT...to a much lower degree. I'm able to directly compare it to my (failing) Corsair K70 Lux with Cherry MX Brown switches. They are much louder on their own, the switch "clicking" itself is louder, but the springs don't make a noise, not even a bit.

So this is definitely a thing and both companies should look into this. It seems there is still a difference between an age old company like Cherry who figured out these things over the past decades and a "newcomer" to the scene of custom switches like Logitech and Razer. Razer needs to work on it a little bit, more a matter of better quality in the future than a failed design, but Logitech needs to throw their Romer G switches into the trash and start from scratch with the design. Seriously, it is that bad! Unbearable!

That said I will keep the Razer. Like I mentioned, the spring noise is there, but barely noticable in everyday scenarios, even with the windows closed and no other sound source than my pc I have to put my head closer to the keyboards to clearly notice it. And the feel of the switches is definitely better, the overall quality of the keyboard is better and I love the customization (especially when it comes to keys and macros) with the software.

Good work Razer...but please look into the spring noise. It's a 180€ keyboard after all...

Did you take the green switches ?
They're the noisiest ones, the yellow or orange are far more discreet.
Sorry, I will add this to the original post: Yellow switches. And I'm not talking about the normal noise the switches make when you press them. Not the clicking. The springs, they...ring. A bit. Like I said, far less than with the crappy Logitech Romer G. But Cherry switches don't do this, at all.

We have to differ here between noise that is actually expected from a switch and accidental noise and I would definitly call the spring coil noise an unwanted side effect.

Thanks for your post and your feedback on the yellow switches. I went with the greens since I was enjoying the noise and audible click, but think I would actually prefer the shorter travels of the yellow--not to mention the sound. I hadn't considered the sound of the spring itself, but I agree for your point--for this price is should be damn near perfect.
nice keyboard
Did a little reading the "ping" or "filco ping" thing, as it is officially called. Apparently there is a name for everything. :D

It seems more common than I thought and even with all kinds of switches, even Cherry switches. There are websites exclusively mentioning and informing about all kinds of mechanical switch experiences over the years, like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/wiki/mcrip#wiki_sound_illusions

So I guess I will just bear with it. I retested my older failing mechanical keyboard with the MX Brown and on closer "inspection" it got a spring sound, too. Just not as audible because the switches themselves are louder. And it is entirely possible that the spring sound was louder at the beginning, as one hint suggests:

  • Wait for it to go away - temperature and wear can affect PING!

All the other options seem to be a little over the top imho. Sound mats, lubing...nah, wont do any of that. Logitech Romer G switch users might though...tehehe. 😃
Just purchased this the other day, it's amazing!!

Any problems so far with Synapse 3?

Any problems so far with Synapse 3?

I just have a Cyanosa Chroma wich work with Synapse 3 and i haven't had any problem so far.
Synapse 3 has improved alot lately.
I have the Razer Blackwidow Elite, Razer Deathadder Elite, and Kraken 7.1 V2 as my daily peripherals and I have no gripes or complaints about any of them. I also have a Lancehead TE that I've retired (still works fine). My other Razer Peripherals that I've had in the past include the Deathadder 3.5, Blackwidow 2013 (No LED, MX Blue switch model), Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2, Razer Tiamat 2.2, and Deathadder 2013. My Deathadder 3.5 and Deathadder 2013 had double click issue on left click and the Tiamat 2.2 has a short in the volume control. So I've been using Razer products since 2011 and I have some complaints but Razer has done the Blackwidow Elite right! The Blackwidow is a nice keyboard but felt like it didn't match up to other keyboards. Before the Elite model, it lacked proper volume controls and dedicated media keys. Now Razer has finally nailed it on the head with this keyboard and I have to say kudos to Razer for doing that and finally listening to their fans after all these years of requesting dedicated volume and media controls.
Greetings!

Thank you for your insights! a little bit OT but may i ask why you retired the Lancehead in favour of the blackadder?

The reason I retired the Lancehead TE is because I prefer the shape and feel of the Deathadder Elite instead as well as the easier to press side buttons. The side buttons on the Lancehead TE is a bit harder to access with my thumb vs the Deathadder Elite's side buttons. Granted both mice used the same sensor.
Thanks for explaining!!
i really want this 😞
I can't say 'TAKE MY MONEY' because you left off the dedicated macro keys. Fail.
Is the wrist rest removable? I need to replace my current keyboard soon,, the wires are loose inside it i think or frayed 😛 I'd like the look of the blackwidow elite, but I don't really want the wrist rest 😛

Yep it does! There are magnets that hold it on, it stays in place well but also easily removed.

One of the greatest improvements with the mechanical switches this last years.
