Synapse 3 & Huntsman Elite Issues

Just got it in today, only had an hour to play with it but was getting very odd performance with the huntsman plugged in. Before adding the huntsman everything was working well, after adding it the software is extremely laggy, the keyboard did not show up in synapse for at least one reboot cycle, and even though the keyboard shows up in the chroma editor and previews fine I cannot get anything to actually change in the keyboard lighting, saving does nothing. Good new. I was going to do a reinstall of Synapse and in the uninstall window it said it had an update (none was showing in the normal update window). I did the update and everything started working. Also worthy of note is I used a direct USB on the mobo instead of my usb hub so I cant say which of these two things worked but they fixed it.

I also noticed that Synapse 3 is seriously laggy with the Huntsman Elite plugged in.....

I just bought a new huntsman elite and It never shows up on the synapse 3 beta. I uninstalled, reinstalled, used the usbs on the motherboard and for some reason now the caps lock light is always lit and the other lights don't work for numlock and scroll lock. I have no idea how to fix this and for 200 dollars things like this shouldn't be happening. I'm returning this keyboard because I can't seem to find any solution anywhere. I'll buy another one and see if that one works out.

Same problem here sir. It is functional though, but annoying and you don't pay 200 for something that doesn't function... As others mentioned, I also found synapse 3 to be horribly slow and nearly unusable.

Okay so I got a second huntsman and I tested this keyboard on a fresh windows 10 install because even microsoft found a way to screw me over by bricking my pc with their updates. Anyway, I plugged it in, got synapse 3 beta and this time it does show up in synapse. But when I try to click on the keyboard icon, it lags and freezes, navigating to chroma I choose different lighting presets but it doesn't change and lags. I also tried the brightness bar and that doesn't do anything. I tried the chrome advanced effects and it only changed for my mouse so that doesn't work either. I have no idea how to fix this because this is the second keyboard I got, its running on a fresh windows install so I know it's not the pc, and it's plugged directly into the motherboards usb 3.1 ports. If there are any fixes, help would be appreciated because otherwise I'm returning this and it's a shame because I really like these keys.

Do the synapse uninstall, it will bring up a special window where you can check for what appear to be 'hidden' updates, or at least updates that the regular updater does not see. Not saying it will help for sure but its worth a shot.

I had the same problem and was actually getting very annoying. So i did some research on Razer insider and found that the Huntsman Elite requires that you plug it into a 2.0 usb and not a 3.1. I did this and Razer Synapse worked immediately better. Didnt slow or lag at all. I didnt know what usb was 2.0 so i just plugged it into the front of my computer and its working perfect.

That has to be the dumbest solution, what kind of keyboard in 2018 doesn't work in a usb 3 port. I don't even have 2.0 ports on my computer haha so I'm tempted to return this unless there's another solution in the next week or so.

Guessing the issue with Hubs will be the same but please double check that as well. Given this thing needs two USB using a hub is a super common scenario.

I am having issue with RGB lighting on media wheel. So I'll have wave pattern on keyboard. When I rotate the media wheel the inner light turns white and stays white while im turning it.

That's a feature I think. The intensity of the white light represents the volume percentage.

i have the issue that my chroma settings will not be accepted by the keyboard unless i restart my computer. even then only the last setting will be accepted by the keyboard. For instance the "fire" mode will work to were it looks like fir for about 3 seconds in startup and as soon as windows launches it be comes "static" fire. the keyboard is lit and is the correct color however there is no fire effect. just fixed my issue.. go to chroma under any device. click apps. disable LED keeper

try looking at the apps connected to the chroma and see if disabling them allows your keyboard to start working.. also i am on USB 2.0

For me, when i turn on the pc the keyboard just have some areas backlighted and the rest of keys are no iluminated, i have to unplug the keyboard and plug it again to see all keyboard iluminated. The weirdest thing here is: The keyboard workds perfectly with that lighting problem, but why i need to unplug and plug it again to make it work properly. Sorry for my bad english xD

The device controller being USB 2 does not mean it doesn't work on USB 3/3.1 ports. USB ports are always backwards compatible. Every single one of our keyboards this decade runs a USB 2 controller, the Huntsman Elite is no exception.

It looks like my lighting effects lag when i plug in both USB cords but when i unplug the power source for the secondary lighting it works just fine.

I dont think this is a problem. From your post i can assume you have to low power for usb port to handle the power that keybord need. Every usb and pc or notebook use 12V connection and it's the usb 2 or 3 it dosent matter.

So what would I need to do to fix this issue? I assumed that plugging it in directly to my motherboard would be fine being that it’s a MSI z370 gaming m5.

I will say first cheack what power you use from your power supply and what power you have free. The second usb cable is only for lightning on wristrest so you dont use it the 12V power is enogh for keybord to work but if you want to use keybord and wristrest on one usb cale you have the answear :P
