Naga trinity MAC help

Just received Naga Trinity as a replacement for a possibly defective Naga chroma. Two problems: 1. Depressing "shift" on keyboard while pressing side view number button there is no change (example "j" does not become "J"). 2. Under System Preferences>Keyboard>Modifier Keys> ... the Naga Trinity shows up as a keyboard option (additionally when I plug mouse in for the first time I get a prompt to configure a new keyboard). Backstory: Naga Chroma I have had 18 months and worked great until 5 months ago when the "shift" capability stopped working. After suffering through that major inconvenience for 5 months finally none of the side buttons responded to the customization. Support has been simply abysmal, any help is greatly appreciated.
