Razer Basilisk V3 Pro Battery Life Optimisation

For the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro, what's the difference between Bluetooth, USB dongle connection, and the Mouse Dock Pro in terms of latency and battery life? Razer seems to suggest the mouse can reach around 90 hours at optimal battery usage before needing a recharge, but I can barely get above a day or two (~20 hours on average). I recently had to replace my daily driver through customer support due to connection issues, but the new mouse appears to also have the same battery life, which begs me to believe maybe I just have it configured wrong or this is expected behaviour?

Battery life depends on few things. Dunno how they’ve tested 90 hours, because they didn’t mentioned any method (there’s only info it was achieved on Hyperspeed).

  1. Chroma RGB can eat battery life if turned on (also what’s the brightness level - maybe lower it down for a test?).
  2. With Bluetooth mode you’re capped to 125Hz polling rate, it’ll also use less energy, than Hyperspeed mode, so you might try this (but not recommended for gaming).
  3. With hyperspeed dongle you can choose between 500Hz and 1kHz mode - lowering down the Hz, will slightly lower power consumption.

 

That’s true, the lights may be consuming a significant portion. I left them on mainly as an indicator of when the mouse needs to be charged ironically, but even then it only flashes when it’s nearing exhaustion as opposed to allowing us to use the lights as a level indicator.

As for the brightness, I had it at 33%, but I’ll try just turning it off and see how that goes.

Don’t suppose you’ve had any experience with if the Mouse Dock Pro provides savings or deficits when compared to the dongle?

I’d say it’ll be the same as on hyperspeed dongle, unless you want to use 4kHz polling rate which will drain the battery faster.

Certainly, after disabling the lights, battery life has skyrocketed and is now very reasonable. Surprised it made such a difference even when they were only on 33% originally.

Hi, thanks for this report. If you find some sort of sweetspot % where it provides both battery longevity and LED use - that would be great. I guess it can be calculated instead of trial and error if I knew the LED power output, but I’ll just try with ~half the default power at 15 and see how it improves. If 33% provides ~20hr, then 15 should logically give around 40, no? I’m not sure how LEDs work lol

 

Also, there isn’t an easy tool to measure mouse activity time, right? I seldom use the PC for a full mouse cycle.

 

Edit: Oh damn, Apparently mine wasn’t set to time-out lighting at all, so I’m honestly surprised the battery lasted this long.

There is also a 125 Hz Hyperspeed poling mode for the V3 Pro.  Just got my mouse so I don’t know if its new but Synapse 3.8.930 has the option.
