Apt-x on RP2

Root and you can get APTX. There's almost 0 update anyways so you don't lose much with Root, except lower quality Netflix.

Why would I root a phone and ruin the warranty for something that should be included. Did you actually read the thread? Read what was said? rooting was mentioned and ruled out... would rooting fix the awful support? would rooting fic the hardware issue BOTH the RP1 and RP2 share? ( SIM deregistering then SD card reader issues followed by a slow decline into a terminal reboot loop????) would rooting fix ANY of that? didn't think so

Rooting your phone does not void the warranty, as it is fully reversable. I've never had SIM deregistering and SD card issues. Reboot loop is usually software issue, and knowing how to root helps with fixing it without any help from support. While you're here complaining about razer support, I'm enjoying APTX HD with my RP2. Just saying.

The replacement Razer device was sold on ebay.. good riddance also there's shouldn't be a need to go to the length of rooting a phone and installing a small slew of software just to augment what the manufacturer was too tight fisted to shell out pennies for.

But your title says APT-X on Razer Phone 2. And I'm here giving tips on how to get it to work. When other members joins this thread hoping to find solution, they will find my post which tells them how to get the function they want. Instead of walls of texts complaining stuff other than APT-X. Now onto rooting. Your info is half correct. Yes, If you return your phone back to Razer with root, or more precisely, with bootloader unlocked (prerequisite of rooting), the warranty is void. However what it fails to tell you is that with RP2, you can always unroot and relock bootloader. Your warranty will be valid again provided that you haven't break any hardware when messing with system settings with root privileges. Without root, there's not much you can do to damage hardwares, hence why I say bootloop is usually software related. In these situations, you most likely can correct this with methods similar to rooting, by flashing stock ROM (which requires bootloader unlock, as suggested by Razer official support) Anyways, I hope you're happy with your new phones. But honestly soon you'll just find yourself in same situation as you're in now, as no android phone is perfect. It's good to have some knowledge on some DIY troubleshooting skills, it will save you a lot of time and energy to argue with customer support. Otherwise, an iPhone and their impeccable service probably suit you better.
