How to move game data and set install location for apps

So I have just recently bought Razer Phone 2 and switch over from iOS. (So expect minimum Android knowledge here)
I bought an external SD card and have it treated as "Internal Storage" already.

So here's the problem.
I installed many games now and got photos and videos from my old phone move over.
I put them into the phone through the cable plugged into phone, so from my guess it is moved into internal storage.
I tried to move the entire Folder of those photo in "File" but the option "move to" is not selectable. That's the first question.
Second is, how do I move "Game Data" to my external SD card. I have move all possible game into SD already (Cytus II seems to have some problem and have no option to "change" the store location), but in Storage setting, Game still taken about 21GB, so I assume that they are game data file (such as HD pack, CG, etc.)
How do I manage them abd get them i to the SD storage?
I have tried the option to "Migrate Data" at the external SD card, but the storage in the internal storage didn't reduce by any mean.

If I am you I will root my phone and use Titanium Backup to move all the game data to Micro SD. Just a small problem, you might need to load Android games slightly longer as it needs to read data from an external source and not from the OS itself.

As for your first question,
1. Try changing your device connection to pc to MTP and try again.
2. Force close your file manager app. Root and use ES File Manager to move the folder
3. Enable USB Debugging and force move file using adb
4. (Not recommended for newbies) Repartition your file, reinstall OS and try to move again

If you want to have more control on where your files go exactly it's better to set your SD card as portable storage OP. Having it set to share internal can cause issues with slow down opening apps and sometimes even apps not opening at all on reboot for a few seconds.

So my advice is to set up the card as portable that way you can choose precisely where files are going and not potentially slow down your phone.

I think I will try this method since it does not require to Root my Android. I do not have knowledge or experience with Android that much, but from what I googled it is like a JailBreak for Android and I don't think I want to get there yet.

So, in addition to the prior question, I want to ask something regarding the way we set up card as portable or internal storage.
What is the difference between the 2 options for the SD card?
and
How do I backup my Data from the SD card so that I can format them into a portable mode?

Ok, from what I do further research on the mode that SD card can be used from this https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/ms109134 about the difference between Portable Storage and Internal Storage, I think I should be using it as Internal Storage as I do play lots of games and I want them to be on the SD card since, from the link, it said that Apps and Data can't be move to SD card in the "Portable Mode"

Now then, is there any advice on how to free up the space?

Using the SD card as internal storage basically combines the internal storage and the SD card into one single storage solution so all the files applications will only see 1 storage option on your device so you can't choose where things install because it's one solid storage.

Best way to think about it is say there was No SD card in the phone and the storage was 128GB on board it would be and act the same way as a 64GB in built and a 64GB card installed too and selected as internal storage.

Android is slowly but surely loosing it's SD card abilities these days due to so many manufacturers stopping support for it.

As for your last question there if you download a load of games and apps then internal is what you'll want to use as you cant change the install location for games when using portable storage but the way around that is to have the SD card as portable storage and put all your music, videos and podcasts etc download to the portable storage instead thus saving space on your internal for more stuff.

Hope this helps!

So, if I treat the SD Card as internal storage (I bought a 256 GB SD Card), so I can just use it as if my phone has a 300 GB storage without worry right?
The phone will somehow manage the storage on its own.
So if what I said above is true, then I got one last question.
If the internal storage is full or packed, will it slow down the OS performance?
Like how if we fill the C Drive on PC will slow the computer down even though Drive D still have lots of space

That's correct yes. As for the performance that really shouldn't be an issue no the only issue you could potentially hit is if the SD card isn't as fast as the internal storage which will slow things down a bit.

Rooting for Android is totally different from Jailbreaking in ios. Depending on manufacturer, some manufacturer like Xiaomi does allow users to root their phone without voiding the warranty as long as the users flash back the stock rom to claim warranty (I am not sure about Razer Phone tho). For your info I rooted my phone as it provides more functionality like custom theming, offline backup, better battery saving, adfree youtube, adfree apps and most importanty, background play and better mobile data saving.
