When I go on the Synapse app it says "Retiring". Seems dumb to get rid of one of the few things that actually work on the app?

Hi @retroBrassalley444,
Nanoleaf Module
Please note that this module will be discontinued by the end of August. 2021.
To ensure that you can still synchronize your Razer Chroma-enabled devices, please first uninstall the current Nanoleaf module and turn on Chroma Connect for Nanoleaf in Synapse, then install the Nanoleaf Desktop app here: https:/go.nanoleaf.me/razer
Why??? The mpdule works almost perfectly, you could individualy set up the nanoleaf panels...now we have to deal with the stupid desktop app from nanoleafs and even that does not work very well. Great, thanks razer no i can check how to get everything working again! Stupid idea to put it down.

Could you at least just let the actual module online? No need for support any more, but it was working just fine.
Why are they getting rid of it? Seemed perfectly fine.

I can't apply new effects to my nanoleaf lights since this started. I select them in studio, apply an effect, and they just stay black in the preview as if I did nothing at all. This is so disappointing.
If I were a gambling man I’d say Razer is going to release a product of their own in conjunction with the rgb light strips….

i don't like the new way of doing this you cant select each individual pannel now just the whole thing that's not why I bought these it's totally ruined my experience now bad decision!

I second that!
I read somewhere it was to support the newer Nanoleaf products that were just released. However, after spending almost $700 on the amount of Nanoleaf Canvas tiles I bought just to use with Synapse, not to mention the hours and hours of setting up my tiles and programming them to do various things from Media Control and switching effects, now I'm left with one giant lightbulb. It's like Razor kicked Nanoleaf out of the house and castrated it. I've always hated the connection apps for LIFX and Twinkly because of their limited functionalities, but the Nanoleaf Desktop App is the worst. I guarantee it's all about money somewhere and since Philips Hue is still integrated into Synapse, I'm guessing they are the high rollers here. Definitely a HUGE letdown Razer. :mad_::frown_:😩😥
Is there anyway I can get back to older build of razer synapse where the old nanoleaf module is still in there? I just formatted my pc recently and i absolutely hate that i have to install another app to get nanoleaf to pair. Not only does it performs worse, i have to manually turn off the nanoleaf before shutting off the pc otherwise the light would get stuck. This did not happen when the old nanoleaf module was directly in synapse
I found a copy of the Synapse Installer from last year. You probably need to do a clean install and remove your current version before installing.

The installer you gave me is just a launcher, they will redownload the latest version the moment we run it. Unless there is some sort of offline installer, there is no way we can redownload the previous builds manually
Sorry about that Andrew. I should have tested that first.

Well, I contacted Razer support to see if they could point me to an alternate download link or something and then this happened... I'm gonna change the reps name to Barf just for fun.

BARF: Thank you for contacting Razer Support. My name is Barf. How may I assist you today?

ME: Hello Barf! Hope you are having a good day. I'm curious if there is an older version of Synapse 3.0 I could download that still has the Nanoleaf integration?

BARF: Nice meeting you, Phillip. Thank you for raising your concern with us.

ME: Quite a few of us on the forum do not like the fact that Nanoleaf was removed from Synapse 3.0.

BARF: I understand that you wanted to use Nanoleaf integration with our previous Synapse version 2. Unfortunately, the partnership was only available for Synapse 3 since the previous Synapse version is only for our legacy devices. Before we proceed, may I know if you have an existing case number, or is this your first time reaching us?

ME: This is the first time. And no, I was using Synapse 3.0 but the Nanoleaf Module was retired back in Sept and is no longer integrated into it. The new way of having to use the Nanoleaf desktop app doesn't offer any customization at all. It more or less sucks. lol

BARF: Alright. Please take note of your case reference number 000000000. Going back to your concern, we are sorry to hear this. No worries, I'm sure Razer is working for an alternative. If you wish to be notified with Razer updates, you may subscribe to our Razer Newsletter https://www.razer.com/newsletter

BARF: Will there be anything else for now?

ME: From everything I've read on the Razer site, the Nanoleaf site, and the forum, the theory behind the reasoning is a good one, but in practice, I don't think enough people are voicing their disappointment with losing the customization capabilities we had. I had hoped LIFX would come out with a better app as well.

BARF: I understand. No worries, this should reach our higher team.

BARF: I'll make sure of that.

ME: Awesome. It's hard to explain what we lost and the pain in the butt of the four dots unless you know what I'm talking about. LOL

BARF: Thank you so much for reaching. Be healthy, Phillip! It is my pleasure to assist such an amazing customer like you. Goodbye for now!

ME: Well, until a fix or final outcome, is there an older build of synapse available somewhere that still has the integration?

BARF: I'm afraid the partnership was only for Synapse 3.

ME: Yes, and I'm talking about Synapse 3. But there was an update back in Sept, so looking for an older install build that predates the update.

BARF: I'm sorry but as much as I'd like to provide one, this is the only website we can download Synapse 3 https://www.razer.com/synapse-3 and even getting a package installer for the previous version of Synapse 3, I doubt it will run since it is an online software and will be needing updates every now and then.

BARF: Do you have further concerns?

ME: Yes, that is the problem we have been having. ok, well thank you for your time BARF and the info.

BARF: It's the least I can do. Bye for now!

I couldn't help but think that Barf is a moron. Perhaps reading answers from a database and he just wanted me to go away. All in all, absolutely no help whatsoever.

Perhaps try https://github.com/ChromaControl/ChromaControl? or somewhere else on there you might find an older version?
Thanks for the help @Cerafus in trying to get me a solution to the current problem. So far nothing is really usable, not even chroma control. Right now I have another pc that currently still have the nanoleaf module installed inside synapse 3 but I'm not sure if there is any way to directly copy the entire synapse 3 with nanoleaf module to my current new pc. Has been tinkering around whole day to get it appear on my new pc but still no result yet. Perhaps someone with programming knowledge can help us out on importing a synapse 3 with a working nanoleaf module build to other pc
Sorry for the double post but i figured out how to import over a synapse 3 with the old nanoleaf module build to my newer formatted pc. This is really unsafe and I wont recommend it myself (might even be illegal) but it was worth the risk for me.

I had to first copy all the existing Razer folders from Program Files (x86), program files, program data, appdata/local from my other pc that has nanoleaf module installed and then store the files/folders in a pendrive. Also 4 registry file has to be exported as well, 2 from hk current user and 2 from hk local machine. This copy I took is the latest version of synapse 3 with nanoleaf module built in directly inside.

The newer pc that has synapse 3 without nanoleaf module built in was then put into safe mode so I can delete all the existing razer folders and registry before pasting everything back in. I did not perform a uninstall but rather, i manually delete all the Razer related folder/files and replaced them with the ones in my pendrive. Once everything is pasted back to way my old pc was, i restarted my pc and synapse will load back the old settings with nanoleaf module still intact. A lot of trial and error was made until i managed to get back the settings I wanted.

It may seem troublesome to do all this just to get back the old module but it shows how desperate i was to get back the old module than to use the newer but inferior nanoleaf app that I very much hate.
I don’t think RAZER will hear it
Should I buy another brand ???

This makes the most sense, i just want some cool lights, been doin research on which ones to get so it looks like it wont be nanoleaf lol
thanks for ruining my light setup razer !
Hi @AndrewDrakePhan and @Cerafus
I am shocked by what I have read. I wanted to buy myself Nanoleaf panels and LIFX LED strips. And now I don't even know what to do. Does that make sense?

I've seen there have been several updates. How are you doing now? Does Synapse 3 work as it should? Is it possible to customize the color of each zone?

Think you can upload that file to like a dropbox or something? I am desperate to get the old version back.

This is really a massive screw up by Razer. Each panel was addressable individually before. Now it's all just one massive light. How do they think this is acceptable? I am kicking myself for uninstalling the old version not knowing I would never be able to get it back...
ookokay

Do PM me and i will send the files to you via filesharing site, im not sure the legality of sharing such workaround in Razer's public forum.

As of now, the classic triangle design still works fine with their retired nanoleaf module via synapse 3 but i'm not sure if other nanoleaf iteration will work or not
Ok, I finally heard back from Nanoleaf today.

Hi Phillip,

In regards to the Razer integration, the new update that is compatible with our app is being developed. We will surely let you know via our website or on social media once this is released.

No explanation as to why the integration was removed, but at least it's a little bit of hope that we have a solution coming. Not sure how they will alter the app to work with the Chroma Studio, but for now, I guess it's a wait-and-see game. Perhaps submitting requests to Nanoleaf from anyone else in this thread might let them know we really want it and wanted it before the old integration was terminated. Maybe that will speed things up? Then hopefully my 33 panels will be independently free again instead of one giant light bulb. lol
I have also been talking to Nanoleaf and got this reply today! here:

Hope this email finds you well.

I have checked my own Nanoleaf Desktop app, as well as the Razer Synapes app, and found out that I'm having the same issue on my end (I've attached a screenshot of my Synapse Studio tab), and shows the same 4 dots. I've also had this communicated with our cloud team and was advised that it's a known issue with the integrations with Razer and they're now in communication with Razer in fixing the problem.

If we can assist you with anything else, just let us know.

Best regards.
Marcus

iv asked them to keep in touch so fingers crossed!!
