"Failed to start" Razer Chroma | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

hi, i have a problem, the razer chroma stopped running — failed to start? what's the problem? i have windows 11 24H2

Complete removal and cleaning of the registry helped...

@swampshadow which registry entries specifically did you remove?

I uninstalled via Windows Settings (Apps)... Still happening upon re-install.

Also, chroma and Synapse? Or just chroma.

You can use this tool from Razer to cleanup after removing Synapse software: https://rzr.to/Tf53xj you can also use CCleaner software to scan for registry leftovers and clean it up too.

i use RevoUninstaller, it deletes all entries of the selected application automatically, deleted both synapse and chroma.

Razer or a recent MS update obviously messed something up because Im getting exactly the same error.  Might go back to Synapse 3 for mor stability

i just started getting this same issue. is this something that is fixable through a quick update by razer or would it be a better idea to move back to synapse 3 until they sort things out?

If you looked at forum, this is a permanent software problem, so if it doesn't light up, wait, maybe they'll fix it in an update, and if you need it now, then delete it by cleaning the registry and install it again.

I had the same problem and worked with Razer support over the last few days on it the thing(s) that seemed to work was repair installing (go to Apps > Installed Apps > .NET > Modify > Repair) Mine was .NET 6.0.36 (It requires 4.8.1 or newer this is the one I had installed). Upon reboot after the repair install my internet happened to be down and Chroma launched right up. The Chroma Jan. 10th, 2025 update ver. 4.063.2501101044 for whatever that's worth. Rebooted again with the internet back and Chroma has continued to work. I suspect it was a repair install of .NET but can't discount the network connection being down either. One or both of those things seemed to fix it for me, hope it works for someone else.
