7.1 Surround Sound in Windows 8.1

My question is very simple, my computer does not recognize my Kraken headset and beacause of that the 7.1 surround sounds feature can't be activated. I already went to sound settings but the headset does not show up at all. It works but the 7.1 surround sound feature does not, I can't configure it. I am thinking that it might be my Windows version, but I'm not sure about that. Can someone help me?
