Adjusting from n52 to Tartarus V2 | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Have used both n52 & the TE version for many years, and down to one n52. Decided to try this Tartarus V2 to replace an aging n52, but am noticing some issues.

Am playing Guild Wars 2 and have a keys remapped. Per row:

F1 F2 F3 F4 F5

Esc 01 02 03 NumLock

Space 4 5 6 Tab

~ 7 8 9

Thumb button: 0

Thumb rest: M (Map)

Not gotten the middle mouse to function to change profile pages like with n52/TE versions did.

Use D-Pad to maneuver with, and in conjunction with mouse for strafing.

Am noticing latency in the Tartarus, so am assuming the profile is not stored on the device (sad that). The D-Pad gets stuck when changing directions. So it's instinct to pull the other direction, but the issue will not resolve itself unless I push the direction it is stuck in - which ends up putting my character in a worse situation, sometimes over over a cliff, or when trying to evade a mob and it's putting me in a dire situation. (!)

In aerial flight and trying to land the Skyscale down for dragon fire, that D-Pad sticking is getting annoying. It's its first day of use, bought from Amazon.

And when the action gets heavy or intense, and pressing F2 to get pet to attack and there's like ... latency. (!?!) And then pressing 7 to get a heal off (Soulbeast), and am like pressing over and over to get the Tartarus to respond. Then notice am lagging internet wise, and am wondering if every command and such is using some online profile instead of putting it on the device and/or main PC?!?

Have Windows 7, x64 system, and an older machine running Dual Core 2 Duo. Am on a shared wifi hub. That's life, and not once had issues like this with the n52 - like am having with the Tartarus V2 using your Synapse 3 software.

So what is going on here?

PS: Still trying to get used to the extra row. Thought it would be good to have, but seen that the palm rest fits the hand in a good spot for all four roses, so am rethinking key maps. Still, these are not getting stored on board the device. Not sure who's idea it was to NOT save custom profiles to the device... /grr
Also 7 gives a temporary burst of energy to mounts, really useful with Skyscale. And when flying 7 lags out a lot. Is this device capable of handling multiple actions at once?
Disabled the diagonal controls on the joystick, so only up, down, left, and right are enabled. Made no difference. Am also having other keys getting stuck on as well.. So when using d-pad with other keys something gets stuck in battles; more noticed in heavier battles.

Tempted to send this back to Amazon as defective, and go back to the n52. Not sure what Razer did to this upstanding line up gamepads. Wished could get my hands on a new N52 TE that was built by Belkin. This is/was my first Razer product.

Moved the wristpad closer to the keys and remapped the keys again. Still a longer reach to the forward most keys, and am still fumbling. Had not noticed having subconscious thought about the 13 key, which is 8 on the N52, as for centering and knowing where one was on the keypad until I switched gamepads. So #5 on my layout is now a mushy leaned key and am trying to retrain the brain to use #8 (13) as the reference point. Up until now I had not noticed how important it was to have that physical marker there. (!)

And I was trying various color variations. Had noticed that when am fragging heavy, the coloration like waves stalls. So there is more draw on USB 2.1 ports than I had thought. Now have the color set to static mode, as I still have to look at the keys once in a while to see what's going on.

Am hoping the sticking keys will go away soon. Have noticed the d-pad is a lot more sensitive and rascally than the older n52 is.

Oh, and orange is not Orange on the gamepad. Have a UTechSmart Venus mouse with side-button that is orange. Cannot set the Tartarus V2 to color match it at all. :\\
Would keys that stick be a sign of a defective device?
Seen there was update that was downloaded yesterday morning, and installed it. Only got a couple of hours game play in, and most of the sticking issues were not noticed today - save for the 11 key I have bound to increase flight height. It's bound to the Spacebar, which is also jump, but when held down in increases height in water or air.

Oddly the same key is on the Venus button mouse, but it's not as easy to use when guiding direction with the same mouse. My hands are predominantly on the mouse & Tartarus V2 - rarely use the keyboard except under some situations or when am wanting to type.

It still gets stuck on every so often, which is annoying in that it should release when the key is released, helps to control height and how much flight juice is available. So when the skyscale reaches is maximum it starts slowly falling. Seems to happen more when using the D-pad.

Another key that I use to move forward, automatically, has bee stalling and/or not kicking in the command. Simple NumLock key bind on key 05. The key forgets what it is supposed to do when pressed, and have to click it several times before it gets the flying mount (skyscale) going forward.

About the only thing I changed was removing the USB extension cable that I used with the Nostromo N52 gamepad, as there was just enough cord on the Tartarus V2 to got diagonally across the desktop to the computer on a side stand. And the cable was routed in front of the keyboard, whereas before was behind the monitor with the extension cable.

Have 30 days with Amazon to determine if the TV2 is defective, or if it will smooth out with more use. Am liking it, but the extra reach does tire out the thumb since cannot move the D-pad mounting area slightly more forward.

Have noticed the D-pad is closer in proximity to the thumb rest button (20). Am not activating the 20 key, which is bound to M for map. But... if this area had the ability to be adjusted, am guessing a 1/4 of an inch forward would help lots more.

Sure am glad the keys were not sticking on the D-pad today. That was getting quite annoying!
Still get an occasional stuck key or d-pad command. The latest Synapse update seemed to most of that, so keeping the Tartarus V2 as it is growing on me - the stuck key commands not so much.
Hi @OutbackIdaho! Have you tried creating a dummy Razer Synapse account and replicate your key mapping? Also, have you tested your Razer Tartarus V2 on all your PC's available USB port and see if the issue still persist? We appreciate the isolate tests you have done so far, especially, when you bypassed the USB extension cable. If in case the issue still persists, we recommend to uninstall and reinstall your Razer Synapse 3.0 and redo your remapping to eliminate possible software glitch.
Found the reason of Button 11 sticking, it is a physically hanging-up. The button does not always release, it sticks down.

Found it popping up a few times today during Roller Beetle practice, trying to learn this drifting technique (15) after using Boost (F11) several minutes after releasing. So I went Olympic on it and pressed it down & released at different pressure points, repeatedly, in hopes to work it out.

Button 11 does not always fully release. Gets stuck when partially down.

As for the Dpad, that happens from time to time, mostly on right turns, but has happened on left turns. Tonight found the Skyscale (flying mount) would occasionally halt for no apparent reason - repeatedly - while under pressure in Guild Wars 2 holographic group kills that do not stay up long. Would press (05) Num Lock to go forward, and Dpad for left & right while using Mouse Right Button to strafe turn in certain areas.Maybe the Tartarus V2 cannot handle as many multiple button/Dpad presses when under load (heat of the action)?

Still trying to get the extra row learn by certain fingers as I moved them slightly around from the N52 positions. I.e. 06 is the new position for weapon swap, and F11 is Jump/Mount Ability 1. Moved the bottom row up from what the N52 was, and using 16 as Dodge/Flying Evade, 17 as Jackal mount, 18 for Roller Beetle (combo keys), 19 for Skyscale (newer flying mount), and swapped 15 for Mount Ability 2 from X. So the little finger has to reach up a row to swap weapons now, and moved Jump down a row.

If only had an extra row of 3 keys up above for the 3 fingers to reach out more, more mounts. 🙂
