Any fix for stuck D-pad on Wolverine V3 Pro?

directCapriinsight578

Just had it bought for me for my birthday 2 days ago from Amazon. I updated the firmaware right out the box, so it is up to date. Worked fine till yesterday night when the d-pad started acting up while gaming on my xbox.

Then connected it to my pc and encountering same issue for both wireless and wired connection. Multiple system restarts and hard controller resets later (w/cable plugin and out shennanigans), the issue persists.

The gamepad tester I ran reads that the D-pad up is constantly being actuated without any inputs from me. It's not physically stuck from what I can see and feel. However, would sometimes became normal if I held dpad down for long enough (gamepad tester read everthing normal as well) before going back to being stuck after a hour on all my systems I tried. The app is no help.

Perhaps a software issue or is it a defect? Anyone know a fix?

I just got my Wolverine V3 Pro as well, and the left arrow on my D pad is constantly being activated. Before that there were other weird issues, like the dpad always actuating twice when pressed once. After some restarts etc. the first problem remains. My last Razer controller also had a weird problem I didn't expect to see a pattern with their controllers. If you find a fix, please let me know.

This is my very first Razer and third-party controller, so I'm not familiar with this kind of thing. I peviosly just bought a new regular xbox controller when the stick drift got bad on them.

To answer your question:

The only consistent way I have found to fixing the d-pad issue once it happens (which is often times after a hour of it working fine) was hard reseting the controller through the buttons shrotcut and restarting my xbox or PC then turning them off. I don't know how this works but, one hour later I would use them again, then BOOM -- problem was gone.

So I have a controller that breaks and fixes itself, somewhat, every other hour.

Crazy right? And not very convenient or fun.

We're going to try to get a replacement by sending it back to Amazon.

Yeah I bought mine back In November and am starting to have this exact issue repeatedly occurring as of a week ago.

Having the exact issue from the very moment I first turned on the controller - constantly triggering the left D-Pad, which also means the right D-Pad input doesn’t work at all. Firmware up to date, factory reset doesn’t help. Very likely a hardware issue.

Ordered a replacement from Amazon, hoping that one doesn’t have any out-of-box issues.

On mine I have the M5 paddle which get stuck randomly, I have to press it in order to have the button popping back, very annoying especially considering the price of this controler  :  /

Really hope there is a firmware update to resolve this soon.  Lot of money for a controller to not have simple function not work properly.

It took about 2 or 3 weeks for this problem to happen on my new controller as well. I was really looking forward to this controller but as of right now its basically useless. It also conveniently started acting up right after the return window so i cant even return it.

New controller from Amazon, used 30 minutes before started having the same issue except for it being Dpad up.

fairly certain it is a hardware issue and nothing to do with the software (at least in my case)

Factory reset, computer reset, wired/wireless, firmware re-update all had no effect.

Opened a ticket with Razor support, will report back with what they say.

In the meantime, I disabled the dpad and reassigned to the back buttons.

Ah never mind the software doesn't let me do that…

OK this is extremely disappointing. I bought this very expensive controller, and in less than a week and with only a few mere hours of gaming logged it has developed this stuck left d-pad issue. It just suddenly started happening out of nowhere the 3rd or 4th time I used it.

The latest Firmware Updater seemed to think that a firmware update was required even though I already updated the firmware when I first got it), so I did that. Further, every time I run Firmware Updater it claims that a firmware update is still required.

Then I go into the Razer Controller Setup for Xbox app and yet another (different?) firmware update is required. It now reports that the firmware is 2.0.8.0 which is odd because the latest version reported on the controller’s Support page is v1.02.01_r2. Seems to be a recent thing, but it hasn’t solved the issue.

The store where I bought it from made me sign an explicit acknowledgement that warranty was to be claimed directly from Razer, and yet the Razer website only accepts direct warranty claims for purchases directly from its own online store.

It’s currently outside of support hours, so will try and contact them when they’re available, but so far my experience with Razer has been pretty shambolic.

I've just got my v3 pro and its doing a simular thing as described above but mine is down in the d pad, the physical button isnt stuck as I can hear it clicking when I press it. Issue is I dont know how to reset the controller, ive done the latest firmware update and that hasn't fixed it.

Any advice would be great.

So it’s been some months and there’s a reason why I’m back (possibly good news), which I’ll get to in a second after I have a bit of a rant.

Firstly, I’d written my unit off as a dud. Having gone around and around with Razer support, going through all the diagnostic steps multiple times to the satisfaction of whatever support person happened to be assigned my case, they finally escalated it only to be told that the branch where I’d purchased the controller from wasn’t an authorised dealer. The seller was Fortress, one of the biggest electronics chains in Hong Kong. However, the specific branch that I’d purchased it from wasn’t listed on Razer’s website, and on that basis they denied me a warranty claim and told me to take it up with Fortress. Of course Fortress had already made me sign a waiver at the point of sale saying that the warranty has to go directly through Razer, so they too denied me a claim. A pox on both their houses.

/end rant

Anyway, Razer have just released the v2.02.00_r1 firmware, with no patch notes except “Fixed Sensa Haptic signal drop issue”. Thought it wouldn’t hurt to try it, so I fired up the controller, opened up Synapse and confirmed the stuck d-pad issue was still there. Then I installed the new firmware, and voila, the issue is gone. I’ve tested in Synapse and Steam, and briefly put it through its paces with Street Fighter 6 on Xbox. Before, the issue would’ve presented itself already at this point but at least for now it seems OK, so fingers crossed it’s a more permanent fix and doesn’t manifest again after a longer period.

Thought I’d let everyone here know, and wish you all good fortune.
