Assistance with Kiyo Pro freezing/crashing usb inputs

Hi, I’ve tried looking elsewhere for an answer to this, but anytime there might be a response the support staff take it to PMs.

I have a Kiyo Pro webcam I’ve been using for streaming, primarily through OBS, but have also used it through Discord. I have found that Synapse is not worth the effort, and have been adjusting the camera settings either through Windows or using the OBS properties section, which I believe just uses the Windows camera settings.

I have been finding that frequently if I try to adjust the settings of white balance or focus, the camera will freeze picture, and the entire USB input system on my PC will crash, meaning I have no mouse or keyboard input. The USB controllers reboot automatically after a short time, however the camera remains frozen and I have to physically unplug and replug the camera to get it to function again. I’ve been having this issue with both the included cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable I purchased (I checked the cable type, the speed is suitable for the function).

The camera is on the most recent firmware. Any suggestions on how to fix this re-occurring error?

I have this same issue. Idk why its happening, i guess it last update.

It’s not the latest update. I’ve had the same cam since July ‘23 and had the same problems since day 1.

Razer’s support was unhelpful to the point I gave up trying.

I can only hope someone manages to get them to acknowledge and fix the issue.

I got this camera today. It crashes when I use it with HDR mode on. It does not crash with HDR mode off.

I honestly got this thing for the HDR mode so that sucks. I’ll experiment with USB power but, I’m not sure if I have a quick solution for this.

Might just get a refund and go elsewhere after messing around with it these evening. Frustrating.

same problem! I installed it yesterday and I already regret the purchase

I never post, as I would just buy a different product, but I only recently isolated this product as the cause of 2 years worth of dozens of very costly crashes to my business.  Hard to believe this is

I am using this camera since 2022 and I am having this issue the first time right now… really frustrating.

I was having the same issue and even though I was sceptical that it would work, reinstalling v1.5.0.1_r1 over the top of itself seems to have stopped the crashing.

Same here, no fix in sight. Honestly wish I did not buy it

I am seeing the issue pop up mainly a couple of specific apps, not really with other apps. Is anyone else seeing any useful correlations?

It was happening for me about 6 months ago, mostly with Google Meet. I have actually no idea what I did, but the problem seemed to go away until 2 weeks ago. Now it's happening on every Google Meet call, so I have to use my mobile phone camera instead, plus it intermittently happens on other apps.

It's so bad that it literally crashes the whole call and the only way to get the camera working again (even on other apps) is to unplug it from usb and plug it back in again.

I wasn't impressed at all with the quality of this camera (the colour balances are terrible, even after adjusting it) , so this is definitely the last straw that'll see the camera thrown in the rubbish.

Yeah, Mine crashes, but may dabble with a stronger USB Hub than what i currently have. Using the cheapest 4 port one to route some streaming equipment, and I’ve read this camera takes up alot of bandwidth if used with other equipment.

Great camera while it worked though, i think this just started a couple months ago. Currently testing on another computer with less extra streaming equipment to see how it holds up.

It’s happening with me on OBS Studio, and with and HDMI going to my TV through laptop also. May just be overload?

So far seems to be working with no hiccups Basically works with no problem with it being the sole video device being used. It may get hiccups when working with other equipment. (this is just what I am noticing)

I may knock the settings down to the lowest possible, and get a high quality USB port and cable, and go from there. Also may get it protected at best buy if it’s not too late.

Absolutely NEVER EVER buy this product. It is terrible. Supposedly great camera that continually crashes. Crashes in facebook, obs studio, clickmeeting, gotomeeting, MS teams. I have the latest firmware. I’ve contaccted them numerous times. They are nice but clueless on how to fix it because they don’t understand their software issue. The only irony is, tonight it failed for the last time (it’s going in the bin). In a webinar with 900 people. I then posted my complete frustration to 32000 users across our FB groups, 8000 in insta and 58000 across two other platforms.

So i did try the camera in every app and it was crashing originally after about 5-10 minutes. Tried diff cables ports etc.

So far I have it configured so that the camera is plugged in USB to computer, and the issue I was having was my PS5/Streaming stuff that was interfering. I hooked that up to an 10gbps USB hub, and it’s not crashing now. I’ll need to try when PS5 is running, but so far so good! Yeah It may be a configuration thing but very frustrating when it was crashing because it is a pricey webcam.

I’ll post results here.

Well DigitalRS, I hope for you it works. I know a lot of people use it for gaming but I use it for work and its continual failures have cost me revenue. So it went in the bin.

Same here.  Had my Razer Kiyo Pro for nearly 2 years now and within the past few months it’s crashing nearly daily.

@Razer Admin what’s the deal?  Got any fixes or updates for us?

hitMauvelouslab907

Nope. They are a bit hopeless. Don’t try to use it for anything but gaming (and I don’t even know if that works). But for MS teams, webinar software, other stuff, it just crashes. Bin it.

Oh good it’s not just me. I’ve tried everything. Seems something in the way Windows 11 talks to this device changed at some point is my best guess.  Has anyone from Razer commented on this thread?

Mine had been working flawlessly until a few weeks ago. Now it is constantly crashing. Razer sent out a replacement and it seemed to be ok for a few days. Now that one is crashing as well.

Exact same issue as everyone else. It’s a bad paperweight at this point.

Having the same issue with a new out of the box Cam.  Def not what I hoped to read when I started investigating. Amazon obviously pads its reviews. I have yet to get it not to crash or freeze up and it is the only cam plugged in to this PC.

So just to test things out I have uninstalled Synapse. So far things have remained stable. I am giving it a few more days and then reinstalling Synapse to see if the issues come back.
