Barracuda X mic not muting when pressing mute

Hello,

 

I’ve tried searching for answers but all I’m finding are articles for mics not working. I have the opposite problem:

My mic stays ON no matter if I have the physical mute button on or off on the headset. (I had an awkward moment at work after thinking I muted my headset)… And it doesn’t seem to matter what app I’m in.

Windows 11 version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.4169)
Google (browser) version 128.0.6613.138
Slack version 4.40.126

I’ve also tried re-pairing with the Razer Headset Pairing Utility (v 1.01.00) but that did not fix the issue either.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I understand the microphone still picks up sounds even if the mute button is being pressed. Is the issue consistent across all devices and applications? Does the problem persist when using it in wired or wireless mode, or is it both? Have you made any recent changes to your audio settings or device? Have you installed or updated any software recently that might affect audio functionality? To isolate the problem, please try the steps below:

  1. Physically examine the mute button for any visible damage or sticking.
  2. Press the mute button multiple times to determine if the issue persists.
  3. Try conencting the headset to another device (e.g., another computer, console, or smartphone) to rule out device-specific issues.
