Basilisk V3 Pro & Mouse Dock Pro. Low and wierd DPI after Windows startup

Userlevel 2

I have Basilisk V3 Pro that is connected using Mouse Dock Pro. About a month ago something happend. Now when i start my PC my mouse is really slow (feels something like 200 DPI, usually i set in to 1200 DPI). If i change DPI settings in Synapse 3 to a higher value to mitigate this then it starts to feel laggy, jittery, don’t really know how to explain this. Right now the only fix is to unplug Mouse Dock Pro and then plug it back again - not ideal. Already updated firmware of Dock an Basilisk. Didn’t help. Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a fix?

Strange, never seen such issue. How many profiles you have in Synapse? Maybe there’s some profile bound to specific app, that is starting with OS?

You can also try clean Synapse reinstall, but I’d also update Chipset drivers and BIOS for your motherboard.

  1. Uninstall Synapse
  2. Download & run this tool: https://rzr.to/Tf53xj to remove any razer drivers/leftovers
  3. Then restart your PC
  4. After reboot install Synapse again (as administrator).

I have two profiles, one of them is bound to some games that can’t handle 4000hz pooling rate, but none of them are starting with OS. Either way, pooling rate is the only difference between them.
BIOS and Chipset drivers could be the culprits since i am on a fresh and somewhat unstable AMD AM5 platform. BIOS updates are not available (only beta versions, not going to update to them).

Updating Chipset drivers didn’t help.

Uninstalling Synapse and removing razer drivers/leftovers also didn’t help. Problem stayed the same, so did the re-plugging fix

After installing Synapse again nothing has changed.

Not having Synapse or any Razer drivers and still having same problem makes me wonder if this is a Windows or AM5/BIOS/Chipset (AMD, in other words) problem.

Tried unplugging Mouse Dock Pro and using included USB dongle. The problem seems to be gone. So, maybe it is a Dock problem?

I think i found something else. Changing pooling rate from 4000hz to 1000hz speeds up the mouse. Also it makes it more responsive and less jittery, i think? This kinda makes Dock useless, so the problem remains. It defenetly isn’t CPU performance problem - i have 7800X3D.

Seeking for help!

Still I’d try bios update (even if it’s beta). I’ve just remembered that I’ve had something similar on AMD platform, but older B450m chipset and it was only in BIOS - mouse was set to 1600DPI and in bios it feeled like it’s 400DPI or less.

This may be a dock problem too… make a test on another PC if possible. But it’s may be also related to AMD platform only.

Through all the risks of beta BIOS and pain of redoing my memory timings I updated my BIOS. Still no change. Problem stayed the same. Fix did too.

It is weird that there was a couple of months of it working as intended and then just suddenly breaking without any updates(only windows maybe but they are hard to track)

Open for suggestions. Would love someone from Razer taking a look at this

If caused by Windows update, then it’s easy to track the ‘faulty’ update. Just go to Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Update  > View update history > Uninstall updates then you can sort it by date - uninstall these with the date that issue appeared.

Yeah, I don't know the date though. Was pretty busy at the time and only got some free time. I really don't want to mess with my Windows install. I recently did a fresh install after moving to AM5 and just got it dialed in. I suppose the only thing I can do is to wait for more updates to Windows, Synapse, Firmware, BIOS and chipset drivers. Some of it may fix the issue.

Or should I write straight to Razer? Sorry, but I can't figure out if you work for them or you just commited to helping people

Not working for Razer, but it’s always good to contact their official support.

Will do. I'll write here if I find I fix. Thanks for help

So, looks like there is no fix. Here is Razer Official Support Reply:

I have the same issue with my new cobra pro and dock pro...did they offer any solution for you or you already fix it?

Sadly no. I still have to replug it every time i start my PC. Hoping there will be an update to Synapse/Firmware/Windows that fixes it.

I also tried seeking help in Razer subreddit and did a lot of testing with them but all i have acomplished is “will report the issue to the proper channels” from some Razer employee. I guess only thing you can do is wait

I checked a lot on the Internet in the past two days, and found that many people have similar situations. This is obviously not an isolated case, but a product defect problem.
It's been almost a year since the product was launched, and their engineers still haven't done anything.

Can't believe they keep selling this for $69.99

I feel you. That is indeed disappointing.

Do you by any chance also using AMD's AM5 platform?

Issue was finally fixed with new firmware update to version 2.00.03 R1 for the mouse and new firmware update to version 1.00.00 R9 for the Dock

It works for me too! Thank you so much!!
