Eh maybe not...

same problem with my blackwidow v4, no crumbs or debris, but my A and S just started to act up.

Same problem, initially it started with a few keys then more and more started being unresponsive. I have also noticed when you start the pc, the keys sometimes work fine and then they slowly start dying as time goes on. Half my keyboard sometimes goes out. I have cleaned it multiple times. Not buying razor again.

Ok I am back to report on that ‘fix’ that I provided the YouTube link to and it’s early days still BUT IT WORKED ! the ‘e’ key on my Black Widow X V4 is now working again and before it was intermittently unresponsive so back then before the fix 1 out or 3 or 1 out of 4 ‘e’ key presses would not register.

So to reiterate, , I unplugged the keyboard, I got one of those tiny  plastic spray bottles that (say) you could spray perfume or aftershave out of, filled it with isopropyl alcohol, took the key cover off, sprayed the GREEN micros witch, pressed it up and down and ‘gently flicked it’ like the guy did in that ‘How to properly clean your microswitch keys and maybe fix them’ Youtube video, they I used a cotton swab to sweep along the edge of the wet microswitch, then sprayed some more isopropyl alcohol and gently waggled the microswitch, I left it to dry for 12 hours or so then came back plugged in and  it just worked !! the ‘e’ key just works as normal 100% even if you press it gently.

The test was for me typing in a sentence into Notepad really quickly which had ‘many’  letter ‘e’ s in the sentence; typing in that long sentence repeatedly and all the letter e’s in the words came out fine! with no missing letters.

Ok, what I’m going to do is tonight before I go to bed is with the keyboard unplugged spray some isopropyl alcohol onto the key switch as per the video below and ‘flick’ the micro switch gently to see if it dislodges something that is not visible when you remove the key cover. As per this video below:  I’m going to leave it 9 hours or so which is plenty of time for the keyboard to dry before I plug it back in for testing. I will give you all an UPDATE in a day or so inform you about the immediate results, if the same key reverts to the intermittent unresponsiveness after say a few days or weeks I will update you all here. Stay tuned for the results.  I really like the feel and the ergonomics of the Razer Widow X V4 and previous keyboards so I’ve not giving up on them.

How to properly clean your microswitch keys and maybe fix them

This worked for me too but I’m monitoring if it stop working after awhile.

I tried this flicking technique without the rubbing alcohol and it seems to have mostly fixed the issue. Maybe the keyboard comes with some kind of dirt or grease under the key switch which blocks the key from registering?

I have the same issue with my “g” and numeric “8” . My keyboard is 3 months old. I just got of Razer support and got an RMA email. My wife is so angry she want to throw this keyboard away and buy something else. I don't know what to do… should I RMA? standard or advanced?

But, what I have found now looking closer at this issue. Its almost like the key cap is stopping the key (green in my case) to enter the switch fully. So instead of using rubbing alcohol, I removed the key cap and placed it back on the key carefully as to not press it in fully. So looking at a side profile my “g” key and “8” key is about  1mm higher than the keys around it. Doing this my “g” and numeric “8” works perfectly and continues to do so.

This will not last though as our inherit nature is to press the keys fully which over time will force the key-cap more into the green key and then it will ultimately stop working again. Re-seating the key-cap will also wear out the grooves over time which is the nature of plastics.

I do agree with the above that its either something in the key or as per my finding the key travel that has a problem.

Please let me know if anyone finds the same with their keyboard?

I purchased the Blackwidow V4 pro off of amazon a couple months ago and over the past week i haven noticed my D and Spacebar keys have become somewhat unresponsive it can take 1-4 keystrokes to get it to work sometimes and other times the spacebar will even double input when it does decide to work…  this was infuriating to type out.

ive got the exact same issue with my blackwidow v4 x

Exactly the same issue. For me it’s button V and only 1 week old keyboard. There is a bunch of threads across Reddit and here with users reporting same issues.

It’s crazy that no one from the team has yet to responded to this after so many of similar reviews, and that’s for months now. Will be my last Razer product after this.

If any of you are running Razer Axon - uninstall it - I did this and haven’t had issues with the keys since.
