Blade 15 2020 fan rattle

Hi support team,

my brand new blade 15 has two significant drawbacks:
- the fans are constantly active, even when just browsing, emitting a significant noise level
- at least one of the fans is causing severe rattling noises at the lower frequencies (implying that with increasing fan frequency the noise level first goes down, because the rattling disappears)

I would hate to send the blade back.

Can i somehow have the fan(s) replaced or oiled or whatever?
Can i reduce the overall fan activity during idle or near-idle tasks?

Cheers,
Alejandro

I have exactly the same issue
I am having this issue as well.
Same here.
brand new razer blade 15 base 2020 (received 29.07.20 as replacement for broken razer blade 14 v6) and left fan just started ticking again, same issue as the previous laptop
Is this a normal 2020 razer blade thing? got one advanced model a week ago and going through the exact same problem. wondering is it worth it to get a replacement and hope the other machine won't have this issue, or it happens to every 2020 razer blade model.
Same here. Advanced model from end of 2019. Already mentioned it in a support ticket but got no response. Would replace it myself, but I have to know the exact model of fan. In my case it definitely is the left side when sitting in front of it. (CPU)
I can‘t believe how much issues there are with these very expensive machines.
Same. Am am about to send it back if this it won't get fixed soon.
Same here, a possible solution: uninstall Synapse.
I did it and now the fan are idle on normal sessions
just started my 2 week old Razer 15 this morning and encountered this sound. Really disappointing.

I am having the exact same issue with the Razer Blade 15 Base. I contacted support and they said it was NOT covered under the warranty. This is definitely the last product I purchase from Razer.
My right fan just started making rattling noises (Blade 15 2020 Base). I can't work with my lap if I am not using headphones.
Same issue. Additionally the bottom panel flexes and pushes against the right fan if picking up the laptop or resting on lap... The computer cannot be used on my lap since it'll just wreck the fan. Considering disassembly and installing an adhesive pad to create a gasket between the fan and panel... Brutal design.
Same here, razer blade 2020 advanced, bought for 1 week, started to hear noticeable rattling this morning, I try to open the backplate a move the fan, but it has little to no effect, I got a replacement but still have the same issue, I don't want to replace it no more so I will just live with it I guess

so true, it happened without any reason
I just received and opened my first Razer Blade 2020 laptop today - with default apps running, the fan noise is really annoying. My 9yr old MacBook pro is quieter compared to this machine.
Really disappointed with my first Razer product.
Yes, incredibly noisy. The fan profiles don't make any sense. Just sitting at a desktop with nothing running it must be over 50% fan and battery life is under 2 hours doing nothing... Out of the box like this..

Any fixes for the bottom panel flex? Cant rest on lap without the right fan making contact and grinding on the panel. Brand new computer... pretty stupid for it to make it to release like this.
I too observed that with nothing running, default settings, the battery life is like ~5Hrs.
Something to consider. Right-Click on battery, Power Options, change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, go to processor power management, system cooling policy, change on the battery to passive. This reduces fan speeds and throttles down CPU before allowing fans to kick on. I find that it keeps my laptop from throttling up and gives me more battery during use for normal web browsing and non-power demanding tasks. I will always plug in my laptop for gaming and video editing. I have a couple of other settings I've changed if anyone is interested. I'm managing about 5-6 hours of watching youtube and web browsing.
I am having the same issue... bought Blade 15 Advanced 2020 model two months ago, and rather suddenly the fans started kicking in really loud with just opening a new tab on chrome. It sounds completely disproportionate to the workload, and I can't figure out what is causing this fan speed
Me too, my laptop is only a month or two old.
Here's how I solved my rattling problem, I've seen a lot of people having this low RPM rattling issue and you have two options: either go through razor support and RNG a good unit back or go the DIY route. I personally took the DIY route and this is how it went:

So, I bought a blade 15 2070-max Q back in april and my fans also started developing this rattling noise at low RPM after a month of intense use. I've found it doesn't affect my machine's performance at all but my god is it annoying. After another 5 rattly months I just had enough and decided to replace the fans myself after hearing razer support horror stories. You can easily find replacement fans on eBay, I got a pair for about 70 USD.

For your interest, the issue causing the rattle on my unit is; there are these rubber feet that is supposed to create a channel for the fan's wire to run between the heat sink entrance and the fan body itself. After receiving my replacement fans I have noticed my rattling stock fan was missing one of these feet. So the wire was actually able to make contact with a piece of thin articulating plastic flap at the heat sink entrance. This is what was causing a flapping / ticking / rattling noise at low RPM. Replacing the fan with the appropriate feet may fix your issue but on mine it still made a tiny rattle and only when the device is held at an awkward angle. To remedy this issue, I actually put on thicker rubber feet so the clearance between the cable and is slightly larger. This completely eliminated all flapping and ticking noises on my device and it's been an absolute joy using the blade again the past few months.

The process itself is very simple. open the back, disconnect the battery just in case, disconnect the fan wires and finally unscrew the fans (each is held by 2 philip screws). If you are going the DIY route please remember you are going to be voiding any warranties you still have. Also, there are a lot of youtube videos of people disassembling blade 15s so use one of those as reference.

A device this expensive shouldn't require it's end users to do all this crap but it is a very common issue and I hope this can help, especially the folks who don't have warranties anymore.

Same here. Razor blade 15 base 2020, less then a month old and fan rattle from low to high rpm. Waiting for responce to get it fixed.
I have 2020 base with 1660ti and same problem with right fan(looking from front top). Right fan has rattle noises at low rpm, when it works on high rpm u don't hear rattle.
