Blade Stealth 2016 (rz09-01962e10) Battery Bulging | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I finally got around to opening up my Blade Stealth to replace the SSD with a much larger replacement, and I discovered that the reason my laptop had a slight gap between the screen and the base when closed was the battery starting to bulge. I took out the battery while swapping out the SSDs and am setting back up my system on the new drive with the laptop plugged in.

I'd really like to have as little time as possible that I can't be using my laptop, but a lot of the replacements purchasable online seem really sketchy.

From what I can find searching support forums the only way to get an official replacement battery without warranty in the past has been through "out of warranty repair".

If due to the current pandemic it is actually possible to buy an official battery and have it shipped to me that would be fantastic; otherwise I would like to know how much an out of warranty repair would cost and what sort of time frame they generally take to be completed.

Thanks,

Kinetos
Hey Kinetos,

I have the same problem regarding the bulging battery. I did a research this a while back and didn't find any guides on ifixit at the time, but as the bulge is becoming more severe I picked it up again on my end I found this ifixit guide:

I have the same restrictions as you, I'd prefer to keep the laptop right now and don't wanna wipe it which I would have to do if I had to ship it, so I'm gonna try it. Thanks for the info the device works without battery in it, that's definitely an option for me as well, as I run it most of the time with a core and a big screen anyways.

I don't have a torx set yet, so once that arrives I'll open the thing and check on the battery. My SKU from the initial order is RZ09-01682E21-R3U1 which unfortunately does not match the SKU in the battery's description linked in the ifixit guide.

If someone from Razer could comment & potentially offer a replacement battery, that would be great!

Thanks,
