Can't really hear in game sounds like footsteps or anything.

Game audio is very quiet, I can hear chat but footsteps and all that I can't really hear. Volume on headset is all the way up too. I'd like to hear the explosions and bullets going by at more than a whisper. What am I missing. I have the 7.1 Code but I accidently scratched too hard and can't read all the numbers.
