Cortex Boost not working :(

Hi. I'm new here and completely new to this whole game boosting thingy so please bear with me. At first, after downloading Cortex this morning, Cortex greatly boosted the fps of my non-gaming laptop just fine. It only worked once. After that it's as if no boost happened. Before launching anything, the boost would show that about 600 to over 1000 MB of RAM was released. However, after launching, the auto-boost showed that about 150 to 200 MB was released instead. (Back then, literally earlier today, disabling explorer.exe actually made it stop running when boosting. But now, at both pre-launch and launching the game, disabling explorer.exe doesn't do anything. It might be a clue that not all items were optimized/disabled even if they were selected for the boost.) I've relaunched the game, and optimized and restarted the laptop many times but nothing's helped so far. I still don't know what went wrong but I still believe my simple laptop can find a consistent way to boost games. Is reinstalling Cortex worth trying? (maybe there's an FAQ or thread about a similar issue? If so, please point the way.) Thanks in advance for any help and advice :)

Hey there! Thank you very much for sharing your Razer Cortex logs with us. After investigating your Cortex logs, here are the answers to your concerns: 1st concern: Before launching anything, the boost would show that about 600 to over 1000 MB of RAM was released. However, after launching, the auto-boost showed that about 150 to 200 MB was released instead. Answer: Razer Cortex manages and stops non-essential processes/apps (i.e. business apps, background helpers), freeing up valuable resources and RAM for a smoother experience. Gaming processes are not included. So, before launching a game or after launching a game, it won't impact the boost function at this point. Also, you had two times of boosting, it is normal that the first time RAM release is much more than it in the second boosting since the released RAM from the first boosting will not be restored. That is why the second boosting only released150 to 200 MB, while the first boosting released 600 to over 1000 MB of RAM. 2nd concern: It might be a clue that not all items were optimized/disabled even if they were selected for the boost. Even you enabled 'explorer.exe' and 'Manage game on Game Desktop', they will not be boosted if you perform a manual boost or launch your game from your desktop or outside of Razer Cortex. If you need to boost 'explorer.exe', please enable this feature and Auto-Boost feature on the BOOST page. Also please launch your game from Razer Cortex 'MY LIBRARY' page. Thank you. Your explanation made me understand this a little more. What I do not get is how the actual performance boost only happened once. After that time it worked, the fps barely increased. Restarting and checking everything doesn't seem to do anything... Is there something I'm missing?

Hey there! It is not boosting once. I can give you an example, I am not sure whether it is suitable, but I am trying to let you understand in a more simple way. Your room is in a mess after a party. You need to clean it after your friends left. The first time when you did a clean-up, you throw away 10 bags of trash, then, another friend visited you, both of you have some drinks and eat some food. After that, you did another cleaning. throw away one bag of trash. So, you cleaned your room twice. Actually, when you use the 'BOOST' feature twice, it indeed boosted twice. You said your FPS barely increased, did you encounter an FPS issue? Please feel free to let us know more details if you need our help. Michelle
