DeathAdder 2013 (RZ01-0084) Doubleclick problem

I’ve recently been having problems with my DeathAdder mouse doing double-clicks for me, and I originally thought it was a hardware problem, so I was going to scrap Razer, and get a Logitech mouse, but then I found out this could be a firmware problem.  However, there seems to be no way to install new firmware for this mouse.

I found an article referencing this file for download:  https://dl.razerzone.com/drivers/DeathAdder2013/win/Razer/DeathAdder2013_FirmwareUpdater_v1.04.03v2.exe  (or close to this… might have a space in it some place… not sure the exact URL)

I was able to download the file, but when it is run, it says I have to have Synapse 2.0 installed in order to use the updater.

I know the mouse is old, but it was in storage for 6 years before it even got opened, and its been a good mouse up until now.  I’m just wondering if anyone has been able to update the firmware on it, and how is it possible if the firmware file is available, but Synapse 2.0 is not?

I was able to resolve the problem by performing the firmware update.

For anyone that might find this later and need to do same.  It’s not quick, but it does take some time if you don’t have a Windows 10 or earlier PC (which is me… I have Windows 11)

  1. I used an old laptop and installed Windows 10 (22H2) on it.
    • No need to have an activation key or license it since the computer will only be used for an hour or less.
  2. Gather the needed Firmware and Synapse 2.0 files, or download them from their source onto the new PC
  3. Make sure networking is working, and the computer has access to the Internet
  4. Install Synapse 2.0
  5. Open Synapse 2, and login to your Razer account.
  6. Allow Synapse 2 to update as much as it will.
    • This is important.  I tried to install the firmware to the mouse before it was updated fully, and the tool did not work.
  7. Attach the DeathAdder 2013 mouse to the PC
    • Optionally attach another mouse to ensure you can still control the PC while the DeathAdder is updated.
  8. Run the Firmware installer and wait for the firmware progress to reach 100%
  9. Shutdown the PC
  10. Move the mouse back to your original PC
  11. TA-DA!

Firmware won’t help here - mainly it’s physical problem witch switches itself.

You can byy a replacement switches like Kailh GM8.0 for eg. - but it requires soldering to replace it.
