I'm trying to upgrade the BIOS on my beloved Blade Stealth 12.5" 2016 5600U prior to installing some Intel securiity patches. I have downloaded two BIOS updater files from Razer support that are listed for my laptop model:
- RazerUpdater_v1.1.0.5_H1-BIOSv0202_H1LE-BIOSv0100 from https://rzr.to/BEDXa as per https://dl.razerzone.com/manuals/TSB 3042-01 Meltdown and Spectre Vulnerabilites - Update Procedure v3.pdf
- RazerUpdater_v1.1.1.2_H1-BIOSv0203_H1LE-BIOSv0101-v3 from https://rzr.to/xQHxx, which is listed for my laptop (SKU RZ09-01682) on https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5245.
When I open updater file 1 (BIOS v2.02) I get this message, which is a bit unsettling - I assume the 5.11 comes from my Windows System Information records which show BIOS Version/Date - American Megatrends Inc. 5.11, 15/04/2016.
When I load actual BIOS on boot, I don't see version 5.11 referenced anywhere - only my Aptio Setup Utility listed at version 2.17.1254 and my System BIOS version listed at 0.651.
When I open updater file 2 (v2.03) I get this message, which is weird again because it doesn't mention an existing source BIOS version at all.
So my question is - which of these files, or both, or neither, can I actually use to update my BIOS? I'm concerned that updating 5.11 to 2.02 on a numerical level seems like a downgrade, but perhaps those version numbers relate to different BIOS elements and I shouldn't be worried?
FYI - I'm using UEFI and dual boot Windows/Ubuntu.
Many thanks in advance for any sage advice you might be able to offer. Happy to provide other screenshots if they'd be useful :smile_:
