Higher CPU usage with Razer 7.1 Surround Sound installed.

havok19112001

Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation (audiodg.exe) will use 8-14% of my CPU constantly in the background from startup until I uninstall Razer 7.1. It doesn’t depend on what I’m doing, even at idle it spikes upto 14%. I don’t know how to recreate this issue but it has happened more than twice. I guess when my electricity supply got cut off, PC didn’t shut down correctly and this issue occurred.

This is Before Uninstall -

This is After Uninstall -

Hello,

I can confirm that this issue is also present on my laptop. I was staying in bed and started to notice that the fans won’t go idle at all. After checking the task manager I have noticed the exact same situation as your screenshots. As a “solution” I have uninstalled the razer surround sound, which is really not convenient as the 7.1 feature was kind of useful for some FPS games.

I hope that razer will update the app and solve the issue.

I mean you can just restart windows audio in services.msc and it's done. But it's still a bug so I posted this. They should do something about it if they are still selling this with headphones.

I have the same problem. How to fix this? In task manager this app consumes twice more than antivirus…

Same here.

DarkVioleturbanJADE954

Try to reinstall razer 7.1 application and restart “Windows Audio” service in “Services”.

It’s a bit strange, but it helped me 🙂

same here, it has been using between around 10-15% of CPU while my game uses 2 or 3%. FIX IT RAZER!

This issue managed to make me very angry. Im doing min-maxed stuff on my PC and 10% of my CPU power just melts away for no reason! Yes eventually I found the reason and fixed it but for real Im never buying a Razor product ever again.

thinkViridiantrend988

I’m getting this problem too. But I don’t have the 7.1 application listed in Control Panel, assuming because it’s built into the driver now. No audio works unless I end process on audiodg.exe and then it works fine.

Tried this, after I restarted my PC it started happening again. Seems like only a Temp fix sadly.

This is still a problem.

Having to manually restart Windows Audio service every single time I start-up my PC is not solution. Razer should fix this! It’s been years!

Do u found any solution? i have the same problem

I have the same problem, 8-22% CPU usage on my high end PC, so it’s basically unusable. If it’s active you can’t play any games. I don’t want to use workarounds like killing that process in task manager. Why it’s so difficult to fix it? The headphones aren’t bad, but with crucial features like this not working at all i don’t know why i should keep them.

So.. this is also a problem I have started to experience. I play Baldurs Gate 3 which uses around 3.5 - 4GB of memory and the Windows Device Graph Isolation (or whatever its called) is using 7GB!!!!! of memory. The sampling rate is at 44.1/ CD quality.

All suggestions I have seen revolves around “disable the Sound Enhancements” etc… I genuinely dont understand how an application for sound can use 7GB! of RAM. I mean its just sad. Genuinely disappointed with Razer.

But let me guess.. they will never address this issue and all the admins or mods will keep feeding us the typical junk “Its on Windows end, we cant help it etc. etc.

I have actively started telling all my gaming friends not to download the 7.1 Surround app. Its just not worth it.

Same issue as everyone else, I found this solution on another forum. Has worked for me so far. Copy Pasting Post. Good luck.

So, this is the background to my problem now onto the solution:

Today, I was done with Razer (I am using a Razer Headset and it came with this 7.1 Surround Sound ench.) and I was about to completely uninstall EVERY audio driver on my laptop and start fresh. This is what happened:

  1. I went to “Installed apps” on Windows 11.
  2. Clicked “Uninstall” on “7.1 Surround Sound”
  3. It prompted a Razer UI with the option “Uninstall” and “Repair”.

I thought “what the hell” I might just give it one more go. (Bare in mind I check for Razer “updates” all the time)

  1. CLICK on “REPAIR”
  2. Once you click on REPAIR it takes a minute or two to process a few things.
  3. Let it process, don't click on anything else.
  4. Once its finished, your memory leak problem should be solved.

I swear whatever Razor did, I dont understand why they couldnt simply fix it with an update or simply disseminate the information that there is a fix.

Once everything is done, you can enable all the enhancements. My memory hasn’t spiked since. I do let the Spatial Sound on OFF. (< FYI)

But this process solved my problem.

Hello @Blackalleyfront898

Thats me! I was frustrated (as you can see) with the problem that day but a few days later I came up with a solution, which has worked for me and shared it with other people.

I am really glad it has helped you as well!

I have been playing couple of games since then and the problem has not occurred again so far. Fingers crossed! :)
