Huntsman V2 receiving no power


Hello,

I bought a Huntsman V2 Linear almost 2 years ago to the date, and today when I woke my computer up out of sleep, the keyboard seems like its receiving no power. All keys are unresponsive, none of the lights come on, and it is not recognized in Synapse.

 

I have tried switching to other USB ports, ones that I know are working with other peripherals. I tried the “exit demo mode” tip on other posts. Does anyone else have more tips? I’ve been buying Razer products for over a decade and they usually last way longer than 2 years, so I’d be shocked if it’s just dead.

Is the cable plugged into the keyboard properly?

Ah right sorry i thought it would be like the Huntsman V2 TKL it plugs into the back of the keyboard with a small USB connector.

I know it’s very cliché but have you tried turning the computer off at the main power then discharging it by hitting the power button a couple of times then turn it back on at the mains and boot it up? Maybe the motherboard glitched it’s USB’s when coming out of sleep mode? If that doesn’t work it sounds like it’s broken somehow or the instructions for demo mode might be different on your specific keyboard? I hope you can get it fixed! 2 Years isn’t a long time at all.

Tried that and still got nothing. Oddly enough, I blew into the USB port (SNES and N64 generation) and plugged it in and it worked fine. After a few minutes I moved it back to it’s “home” USB port, and the keyboard started flashing purple and wasn’t functioning. After about 30 seconds, it turned off and I can’t get it to replicate that.

Maybe try a small brush or cotton swab dipped in alcohol on the port and usb cable.

Just to update this post, a few days later I blew out all my usb ports and the plug-in for the keyboard with compressed air and it started working again. I'm unsure if that actually fixed it or just a coincidence but it's been working fine for a week now.

We figured out the issue. The keyboard cord was running too closely to a power adaptor block that my monitor uses. The block must not be shielded enough, and it was causing interference on the keyboard cord. The block was repositioned and we haven’t had any problems since.

That reminds me of when i bought a LED SEGA logo light to hang on my wall. I have a OSSC (Open Source Scan Converter)​​​​ and it seemed to stop working but sometimes it would work and it seemed to be random. I figured out it was the SEGA LED logo light! It wasn’t even plugged in anywhere near the thing but no matter where i plugged it in the house it would cause the same issue so it was somehow sending a dirty signal down the power line whilst it was operating. I need to get something to filter the power for it so that i can still use the light without having it mess up anything that operates on a certain band of frequencies.​ The OSSC locks onto different monitor input signals to detect how to deal with them  and i reckon it was generating a strong signal interreference around that band (50hz/60hz)
