Item serial number is unknown

I recently purchased a Blackwidow Chroma keyboard and when I go to register the product, I receive an error saying 'Item serial number is unknown'. I have checked and re-written it several times with the same error. I have also been on other threads that have no posted resolution. Does anyone know what to do to fix this problem?
