Kiyo Pro Ultra / Synapse blind user questions

Hi

This is my first  post here.  I am visually impaired and bought a KPU to stream an image of small LED/LCD displays on my 60” OLED monitor.

Using Synapse, I can adjust settings and get a fairly clear image in the preview window.

My immediate questions: :

  1. Does the KPU have persistent memory so settings are retained between power cycles?
  2. 2)  Does the Synapse “Save” button push the settings to the KPY memory?
  3. Does the Synapse “Save” button update the current preset’s disk file?
  4. Is there a document that details what Synapse settings do and how the app works?
  5. Why does Microsoft Camera appear not to use the synapse settings I made immediately before closing Synapse and opening Camera?

Thanks for your support

URLs to documentation, articles, relavent posts, etc. appreciated.

Cheers

It’s me again…

So clicking the Synapse “save” button causes the Synapse preview image to blank out.  After a short delay, (about 2 seconds), the preview image is back.   (so it appears like Synapse is sending updates to the camera, hence the short offline period while settings are being stored on the KPU?)

But the image is no longer what it was prior to clicking “Save”.

To  get my image back, I must turn Auto Exposure on, then off.  Then I must select a random ISO setting, followed by selecting my desired ISO (100).     (I.e. I need to select the same settings I selected prior to the “Save button click.)

So, Synapse appears to save my settings, and the Synapse UI is still showing my settings, but clearly the settings are not being properly sent or retained by the KPU.

Put another way, after clicking the “Save” button, the Synapse UI shows the proper settings, but the camera is not using the proper settings.  At least w.r.t. Auto Focus in manual mode (off), ISO 100 and shutter speed of 1/60 second.

I am running the most current firmware on the KPU and I just downloaded/installed Synapse from the Razer site...

This is reproducible.

Am I doing something wrong?  is there a workaround?

Without software, the camera is unusable…

Thanks

I took two screen shots.  The first was after setting my Auto Exposure to manual, 100 ISO, and 1/60 shutter speed.  Note the camera output.

The second screen shot was taken right after I clicked “Save” and Synapse displayed the camera image again.

Note that the settings in Synapse are the same, but the camera is not using the same settings.  (see above for how I get the image back...)

I think this also explains why every time I start Synapse I am told the camera settings are different from Synapse settings.  Because they are...

(And it doesn’t matter which settings I choose to use.  I still have to toggle Auto Exposure on  and off, then select a random ISO, then select 100 for my ISO.)

I was a software engineer for 4 decades.  Synapse has a bug saving settings to the KPU.

Please advise.

Cheers
