Lid Closed, External Monitor Performance

I have a brand new 15" Razer and with the lid closed, the refresh rate stutters like crazy. When it's open it's fine. Any way to solve this? My monitor is a 144hz 1440 display, connected through the lightning bolt port to a display port. It works great open but I'd prefer to only use the one.

Wow, I used the windows setting to keep the lid open but still select the external monitor and the only display and it still stutters. Unfortunately this is a deal-breaker for me and I'll have to return it if I can't figure this out.

Anyone else have this issue?

I figured it out! Device Manager > Display adapters > Intel -> Disable For some reason it REALLY wants to use the intel driver when using ONLY an external monitor.
