Machine Not Switching to Battery When Unplugged

Hey All,

My machine shuts down, as if I pressed & held the power button, when I unplug it. It does not automatically switch to battery power as it used to.

I am not sure if a Windows update or a Razer update altered how the machine works.

I have a Razer Blade 17

How is the battery sign on the right corner windows tab when being plugged, is it charging or x letter, the later means the battery is malfunctioning or defect (dead), that explains why it shuts down.

Neither. It shows the battery icon with a plug icon over its left side. Hover over it and it says “20% available (plugged in)”

The ‘20%’, I assume, is associated with the Windows battery optimization setting.

Hi sharpTurkishRosecamp991,

For further isolation, you can follow the steps here. If that didn’t help, PM me the serial number so I can validate its model and check for other workarounds to help you address the battery problem. Thanks!

had to buy an aftermarket battery.

There are a few things that could be causing this issue. One possibility is that a recent Windows or Razer update may have changed the way your laptop's power management settings work. It's also possible that there is a hardware issue with your laptop's battery or power adapter.

To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend checking your laptop's power management settings to make sure they are set correctly. You can also try updating your laptop's drivers and firmware to ensure that everything is up to date.

If the issue persists, you may need to contact Razer support or bring your laptop to a repair center to have it checked for hardware issues. They will be able to run diagnostic tests and determine if there is a problem with your laptop's battery or power adapter.

I hope this helps you resolve the issue and get your laptop working properly again.

@KayesPotrinak , already went through all of that. The new battery is holding charge fine without any additional changes.

Thanks

now, the screen is going black...

I am having this same issue. Just updated drivers and will if this helps.

following the topic, my machine battery is also doing the same

@CeilleetAMBER211 - I updated my laptop with all the latest drivers found on this site, and it seems to take care of the problem. The battery life is still very short though, so I believe I will be getting a new replacement battery. I could not find one on the Razer website, so going to Amazon to try to find an aftermarket batter that matches up.
