Mapping "Back" and "Forward" to mouse buttons is not working (Synapse 3)

I'm using Synapse 3 with the Naga Trinity mouse, and I'm mapping back and forward to "Alt-Left" and Alt-Right" to my Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 buttons. But it's not working in my browsers. If I do Alt-Left on my keyboard it works, so why isn't the button mapping working? I've tried it on both Chrome and Edge.

this is a problem I am having as well, my wheel of 7 buttons is continuing to be mappable, but the mouse 4/5 buttons are completely unmappable. I tried mapping them to letters, and entering text into notepad, but they are unresponsive.

looking at my driver, I saw something similar to this post /razer-synapse-3-broken-after-recent-update-unable-to-use-naga-trinity.56664/#post-522451

in the events tab for the driver it says

Device HID\\VID_1532&PID_0067&MI_00\\9&2f26991&2&0000 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

I did try uninstalling all my hid and mouse drivers to let them reinstall before finding this error. I can't figure it out.
I noticed the issue, because I use these buttons all the time to navigate the internet, and I wanted to know why they had stopped doing anything in my browser.

I am looking for a fix still. But it seems to be some kind of driver issue, perhaps. Fortunately, the web-browser is nearly the only thing I use those buttons for.

Hey everyone! Thanks for posting your concerns here. Have you tried selecting navigation and assigning the left and right button to each with "Alt" as modifiers? I have a Razer Naga Chroma and it worked after replicating the scenario. The screenshot below shows that I've assigned the "Previous and Forward functions to my "Repeat scroll up and down" buttons. Feel free to send me a PM should you need additional assistance.

yes, I have tried that, as far as I can tell, pressing the buttons wont do anything, no matter what I map them to.

Yes that does work, but it doesn't work when I assign it to mouse buttons 4 and 5. Why would it work on the scroll wheel but not the buttons?

Oh you're right, I didn't even notice that mouse 4 and 5 don't work at all. I can't map them to anything! How did nobody else notice this?
Oh, mapping the side of the scroll wheel instead. no I'm not really looking for a workaround, I want to be able to use all the buttons on my mouse, not just the ones that decide to keep working.
I don't NEED back and forward, I can just click them, that's not the issue. I need every button on my mouse to function.

Your point is well taken. Please send me a PM together with your Razer Synapse logs by following the steps here. Let's continue from there.
