Mouse is not able to input F13-F24 when using HyperPolling Wireless Dongle with Synapse off | Razer Insider

I have found a weird issue in Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle. If I bind my Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro side button (or any button) to F13 (or any other F14-F24 key), the mouse behaves in the following way:

  • When Synapse is open in the background:
    • Clicking the side button always enter F13 correctly
  • When Synapse is closed:
    • When using wired connection, clicking the side button enters F13 correctly
    • When using wireless connection with the dongle that came with the mouse, clicking the side button enters F13 correctly
    • When using wireless connection with Razer HyperPolling Dongle, clicking the side button doesn’t enter anything

Also, if I map a mouse button to Alt+Ctrl+Shift+F13, when using through the HyperPolling Dongle with Synapse closed, only Alt+Ctrl+Shift gets inputted. But immediately when changing back to wired connection, without even booting up Synapse, Alt+Ctrl+Shift+F13 gets inputted fine when clicking the bound button. It’s almost like the HyperPolling Dongle would  somehow not be able to process F13+ keys in its data channel.

All other key mappings seem to work just fine with the Dongle with Synapse closed. E.g. if I create the same mappings using F12, everything works fine.

One can easily test this with online keyboard testers such as https://keyboardchecker.com/ and https://keyboard-tester.com/.

I’m using Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro and Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle, on Windows 11, with latest Razer Synapse 3 (3.8.428.42117 / Version: 20230524). I’ve tried different polling rates and they don’t make a difference for this.

I’ve also checked with the Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro Firmware Updater | RZ01-04630 https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6403 that I have the latest device firmware (1.01.01).

Keyboards with 24 function keys are extremely rare. Since those keyboards are uncommon, programmers typically do not assign any functionality to those keys.

Although I do not know of a fix to this niche problem you have encountered, this is probably a case of Razer not accounting for these keys via the Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle programming. You may be right that it is unable to process F13+ keys.

On November 6th of this year, the Mouse Firmware Update v2.00.03_r1 for the DeathAdder V3 Pro and Dongle Firmware Update v1.03.00 for the Razer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle were released. These firmware updates may have fixed this issue, so I recommend updating if you haven't already.

If the new firmware updates still do not fix the issue, you may have to restrict your keybinds to F1-F12, use another keyboard, or use your mouse with the wire since it seems to register F13+ keys while wired. You can also keep trying to find a way to make it work, but like I said, they may not have coded for it to work above F12.

Hopefully you found this response informative! 😄
