Nari Ultimate disconnecting when sound played

I have had the headset for about 2 and a half years and until yesterday it has been working perfectly. Now whenever the headset tries to play sound it disconnects immediately and after it stops trying to play sound it attempts to reconnect.

I tried the firmware updater, dongle recovery tool and pairing tool but they all did not help

I tried it without synapse, with a fresh install of synapse made sure all my drivers were up to date

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Hi guys,

Thanks for posting your concerns here. PM me the serial number of your headset so I can validate its model and provide your region for me to check our spare part list for availability of spare Razer Nari Ultimate dongles. Thanks!

The dongle is dead, It happened to me as well, at some point it gets hot and apperantly fry itself or something in similar nature. I think some electronic component in the dongle is failing for some of us.

Has anyone managed to get a replacement dongle? Mine seems to be having the same issue

Ecrueasystory501

I faced the same problem, before that the headphones worked for a whole year without a single problem(

I've literally just had this exact same issue yesterday its like the dongle is definitely fried as the headset is immaculate and so is the dongle but when i removed the dongle it was very hot weirdly and my headset will no longer connect to the dongle whatsoever

Funny thing is this just happened after upgrading my pc and to windows 11,before that worked perfectly fine

realy love this headset would realy apreciate if i could get some help.:(

Yeah I would maybe razer will see this and either provide us with a new dongle or something. Funny enough we cannot buy the new dongle ourselves. And it looks like the Nari is discontinued too so it’s almost as if razer know but haven’t recalled them or made people aware of the issue the nari dongle has

p.s. I’ve had to connect my mobile phones Sony earphones to my PC as a temporary headset. Lowkey better sadly

Razer knows about the dongle issues, everyone I know that had them had the same issue with it. Razer won't do anything about it most are out of warranty, and just tell you to pray the dongle is on the store to buy.

At this point it should have been a recall as it's a known defective device. Come on razer... your killing your customers with 200$ headphones we can't use after a year or two.

Same issue here. Also after installing windows 11. As razer does not seem to care, although there are multiple threats regarding this  issue for over a year, and the only response seems to be the question for the serial no. I am absolutley dissapointed. This is not an appropriate way to handle an issue with a hihg price product. Will be the last Razer device i bought.

This is the worse support of any Computer peripheral company I have dealt with...the dongles are defective and the solder is heating and cracking. Razer should be sending all of us a New  and improved Dongle!

If it may help, you can find Nari dongle on Aliexpress for £30.

I ordered one, paired it with my Nari Ultimate and it’s been working for a month without any problems.

So may be worth a try, if you can not get a replacement from Razer (make sure you select the correct model).

I bought two dongles from AliExpress, one for my razer Nari set and I bought a second set from a guy whose Dongle stopped working for $30.00 Can. Paired both sets on two different computers. They work now. My whole point is why isn’t Razer looking after their customers, or, at least giving us the ability to order a new Dongle from Razer.

I understand that Nari dongles were a design failure, they tend to fail because of heat affecting some of the solder contacts on the circuit board after some time of using it (but honestly the time is beyond the warranty point).

Also Nari is not really a very long lasting headset (headband leatherette flaking off, that is impossible to replace  if you are not a soldering pro - you need to re-solder all the 10+ wires.

Dealing with all these replacement requests is, honestly, a disaster for Razer, so I guess that Razer want to forget it as a whole. and don’t want to keep making these . I tried to find new Nari Ultimate headset, but there are none anywhere.

My problem with Razer products is that their current line of products is “not suitable” for me - Nari was only headset that fit me, all their current headset’s earcups (I tried Kraken and BlackShark) are significantly smaller. The same situation with the keyboards - their current line of full size wireless keyboards have these “macro” keys on the left side, that is not good for me. The last good keyboard was Blackwidow V3 Pro, and they are not making them anymore...

Hi, i think my dongle also die? Yesterday my headset turn off, and now i cannot connect, Connects and disconnects non-stop. The solution is buying a new dongle?

Same issue for me now, too! It will connect and then as soon as sound is played goes back to pairing. No solutions I have found online have worked.

Hello everyone,

So, here's my experience: I have had my Razer Nari Ultimate for quite some years now, and I really do enjoy it, especially due to the great audio quality and the haptic feedback. But recently, during one of the current uncomfortably warm summer days, I was playing some Battlefront II, when suddenly my headset disconnected (I was using the dongle connection), and my PC automatically switched over to my speaker boxes instead, confusing me severely. When I checked the dongle, I realized that it was quite warm (not sure if that's normal or not), but visually at least, it was looking quite alright. Was the dongle just too old? The outside temperatures too warm? Or the PC (USB port?) overheating for some reason?
But since then, I have noticed the following behavior:

  1. When reconnecting the dongle to my PC's USB port, it seems to connect normally, being a selectable option in my Windows speaker/sounds options.
  2. Once I connect to them, they stay selected.
  3. As soon as I play any sound on my PC, the headset disconnects after playing the sound for a few seconds. Then it just does the "searching for a connection" "beep... boop" sound, and eventually just gives up.
  4. From there, in the Windows sound output selector (in the taskbar), the Razer device seems to be glitching around, constantly showing up and disappearing as a selectable/detected option, but not allowing me to connect or select it properly, because it just disappears immediately due to the glitching.

I have been using the 3,5mm cable for the time being, but obviously it's not ideal, because the device no longer shows up in the Razer Synapse app anymore, and the audio quality itself seems to be somewhat worse compared to the connection via dongle. And also, with the power cable always connected (just to not worry about the battery suddenly dying in the middle of a match), my headset now looks like it's on life support, lol + I don't have as much movement room now, since the 3,5mm cable is shorter than my 2-meter micro USB cable.

I got Windows 11. And my headset probably isn’t covered by warranty anymore (yes, it isn’t. Just checked, and got this message: “Your product is out of limited warranty and ineligible for free support. If you have a RazerCare Protection plan, willing to pay a repair fee (for laptops only), or feel this is an error, please make the appropriate selection. Proof of purchase is required if you do not have a RazerCare Protection plan. We recommend posting your questions to our Razer Insider where you may get your answer faster.”).

It seems, based on this whole conversation here, that the only solution left is just to buy a replacement dongle with one's own money and hope it’ll work. Or maybe just buy a new headset altogether. Maybe a new Razer, like the “Razer Kraken V4 Pro” (that thing is expensive though), or maybe some other, non-Razer headset, that also has haptic feedback/HyperSense.
