new Blade 15 OLED (2022) battery lasting less than 2 hours | Razer Insider

Hey insiders,

I just got my fresh new laptop 3 days ago, which I bought directly from Razer.com, and to my surprise, went on to test the battery after setting up all windows updates and all...and yep, it lasted less than 2 hours using it first time on battery. 100% to 7%.

Thing is, to test the battery I did the Windows approach to it, which is to use it lightly, on battery saver mode, screen brightness set to 50% and the keyboard’s to 25%, so this is definitely unnacceptable (not to mention already capping the device so much only to test it).

Interestingly enough, it is not possible to create an energy report via command line, and there’s no error message as well. CMD simply doesn’t create the report. The battery report is possible to create, though.

I am located in Portugal, and it not being a central market for Razer customers I am trying my best to figure out what is causing this, on the hopes that the cause is not hardware, as it seems that Razer Europe doesn’t have a replacement for this device in stock, in case it is.

What I did so far is, firstly, install Windows 10 and dual boot to it. A fresh install of the OS, without any 3rd party software (like Razer’s) got me up to almost 4 hours of battery. Still 1h to 2hs less than what reviewers point out the battery lasts on this 1440p OLED 240hz device. On a side note, I was able to create the battery and energy report on Windows 10, though, which makes me think the laptop’s factory configuration is missing some energy management driver or something.

Secondly, I saw comments that perhaps Razer’s software may be a great cause of battery drain, and indeed, not having the apps running seems to increase the battery but not yet what it is sold to be, being still less than 3hs.

Fun fact is that prior to this laptop I had ordered the same one from another store and they mistakenly sent me a Blade 17 2022, which I tested and it had no battery issues whatsoever, even with the same OS and softwares install from Razer, and furthermore, blaming the OLED screen on this one is no excuse since other users are able to get the most out of the same devices’ battery, but also makes me wonder why Razer’s software did not seem to affect the other device.

Does anyone know how this could be handled?

Cheers.
