Newbie confusion re: Huntsman TE keyboard and Synapse 3 | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I got a new Razer Huntsman TE keyboard from Amazon because my old 80% TKL died. I'm not a gamer, don't need or want a lazer light show from my keyboard. I just want a simple white backlight, and from what I've seen so far I don't want Synapse 3 software constantly running on my PC

The documentation says you can use Synapse to create and download profiles into the keyboard so it can be used on a computer without the software. I created 3 simple "static" profiles and downloaded. But they don't work when the keyboard is moved to a PC without Synapse. In fact, they don't work on the PC with Synapse unless Synapse is launched following a boot. Instead, the keyboard operates in the default rainbow slideshow mode.

So, what's the trick? Also, first backlit keyboard I've seen that apparently does not have some rudimentary backlight controls (color, brightness) built in. At least I can't find any mention in the anemic documentation or on the Razer website. Is that true?

Edited:

You should be able to create/assign onboard memory in your Huntsman TE by following the steps from this article. Once done, you can execute the reassignment or macro to the other computer with no Razer Synapse installed. Also, the Razer Synapse can store profiles of key reassignments and macros but still needs Razer Synapse 3.0 to execute the device's Chroma effect. Connecting the keyboard with the onboard profiles into a computer without the Razer Synapse 3.0 will only show the peripheral's default Chroma effect.
