Performance issues on new 2019 Razer Blade 15 Base

Hello there,

I bought a Razer Blade 15 2019 Base (RTX 2060) from Best Buy about a month ago. I'll preface this by saying that I've been wanting to buy a gaming computer for a long time, and when I started up my Razer, downloaded the Nvidia drivers, and loaded up the Call of Duty beta on high settings I was super thrilled. Everything I've played for the past few weeks has been fantastic, super smooth with consistent frame rates above 100. Doing things like music production have been a breeze. But now suddenly I seem to be running into some issues.

I downloaded FFXIV about a week ago and in the beginning the game ran great. I kept it on the "default" laptop settings (mostly high/medium) with the frame rate locked at 60fps (I play on a 60hz external monitor). The FPS would idle at 60, and would go up to 80-100 if I were to take the FPS lock off. I'd also be able to keep multiple windows open (browser, Spotify,Discord) with no issues. I didn't notice any performance dips at all...which was incredible.

Then, about 3 days ago I started to get some minor stuttering / lockups now and again. I figured it was because I hadn't restarted my computer in a few days, so I did that yesterday. Ever since then, I've been getting consistent FPS dips and the game is constantly bouncing between 20-60 FPS. Even load times between zones seem way longer. It would take seconds to teleport to a new area and now the loading spinner sits for 20-30 seconds. The fans seem to be going crazy as well throughout the experience (before they were pretty quiet).

In terms of temps, I wasn't closely monitoring while things were going well but it seemed like the cores would fluctuate between 70-85C. I started up the game with XTU this morning and grabbed a screenshot where "Core 0" was hitting up to 95C. I'm also seeing "power throttling" and "thermal throttling" switch to "yes" on occasion in XTU. Screenshot is attached of me running the game for a few minutes (logging in, switching zones, running around).

I've tried downloading the latest Nvidia drivers, which didn't make a difference. I have not messed with undervolting or any other settings. In Synapse, my performance is set to "balanced."

Any thoughts on what could be going on or ideas on how to fix?

Thanks,

I'm having very similar issues with my Blade 15. Support has been sub par and I'm waiting on my 2nd warranty repair paperwork (Fed Ex mailing slip). The first repair worked for a day, but the microstuttering returned with a vengeance. They noted on the first repair my system was getting 20 FPS, but they "updated a bunch of drivers" and were getting 120 FPS after that. When the system was returned, it was completely reset as well (unsure of how you update the drivers then factory reset it and keep those drivers...).

I've been quite disappointed in my purchase. It's a great laptop, but terrible for gaming (if this stuttering continues). I've updated all drivers again, tried using "balanced" vs. "gaming" on the profile and reducing the video settings in game without success. It certainly seems like these Blade 15 2019 systems are majorly flawed, but Razer won't admit it (or replace the system).

Hi there! Sorry to hear about your laptop's performance concern. By the way, have you contacted our Support Team via chat, email or phone? If you haven't please send me a PM. Let's continue from there.
I'm having the same problem with the Razer Blade Pro 2019 (RTX 2080 Max Q). I exchanged the first one and now the second one is having the same problem... Also, on a side note, I play FFXIV on Midgar 😃

It has been a week and a half since I reached out to support and they were supposed to send me a Fed Ex return slip for service. As of now, I've received a single response to provide a random, unrelated log file from the laptop. I'm extremely disappointed in the support provided. For those having the same issue, don't expect Razer to try to fix the issue. I'll be looking elsewhere for my next purchase (and recommend others do the same) if this is how they treat their customers.
I think I found out what the issue is. Try turning off and exit ALL synapse software and see if it corrects your stutters. So far it seems to have cleared up the problem for me....
