Problems with Deathadder and/or Synapse | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
I am on a Macbook Pro running MacOS 10.14.6 (Mojave). Yes, I know it's an old OS but I can't upgrade. I'm waiting on a new machine.

I have been using a Deathadder (the left-hand version) for several years on this laptop running Mojave for several years and not had any problems. Until now.

Recently, I've been having problems with Synapse 2 connecting to whatever server it connects to, grabbing my profile, and downloading it. Even if I don't download a profile and just using whatever is the default, if I change the settings (switching, for example, what happens with buttons 1 & 2), the changes don't take effect. I'm constantly frustrated because the mouse is not working as expected because Synapse can't load my profile and changing the settings does nothing.

And, if by some miracle I can get the profile from the server, and all the settings are correct, some random time later the lights on the mouse blink (the logo and wheel) and it goes back to the factory default settings.

The mouse work fine on a PC running Windows 10. And Synapse 2 works just fine. It's only on the Macbook Pro that I'm having the problem.

Does anyone have a clue what the problem is, and how to fix it? I've tried moving the mouse to different ports but that hasn't helped.

This is very frustrating!

im not really expert when it comes to Mac OS for synapse but i would try something like re installing mice driver and synapse ( clean re install for the software and re install mice driver from device manager "forget what is called in mac os" )
Done. No help. What it looks like is happening (to me - I may be wrong) is that synapse is losing the connection to the remote server, causing the mouse to reset to default until the connection is made again and it has problems making that connection. It doesn't make sense why it works on the PC but not on the Mac, unless they are using different servers which doesn't make sense either.

Dawgggg i wish i can help you with that issue, for the record in the past there are lot of issue with Mac OS for razer Gear in general sometimes mice, keyboard headset etc. but its random not all the time probably 2 out 10 people from my knowledge. i would suggest to check with costumer support here in the forum or twitter, they are fast response. im afraid it can be a software issue
All of a sudden? After working fine for years? That doesn't make sense either. The only thing I can see is that the synapse software (or the driver) was recently updated but I don't know how to back out of those updates to see if that fixes the problem.
Try 3rd party software Rollback Rx. not guarantee will work but at least worth trying
Doesn't look like there's a Mac version... and I don't think it would have worked anyway, since you have to take a snapshot of the system before you can restore to it. I would have had to have it installed before Synapse/driver were updated.

I've looked around and can't find about a recent update for Synapse 2.0. ur best bet is costumer support
I've tried talking to customer support in the past about problems. The best I can say about them is that they are unresponsive. That's why I'm trying to find answers from the community.

In researching this problem on my own, I have found some crash files in diagnostic logs folder. I would upload one of them here but for some reason, I can't - the files are grayed out and not accessible when I try to upload them and they are too big for cut-and-paste.
@sauljaffe I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing. Please PM me the serial number of your device and the current version of the Synapse application you're using so I can forward this to our Software Team.
