Razer Basilisk V3 Not working.

Mauvelousbuzzbuzz338

Hello I have a Basilisk V3 for a few years and today suddenly stopped working.

I making a “click” noise of the magnetic Mouse wheel and is trying to turn on but works like if you move the mouse does not do anything. if you do it when the clock sound goes works.

I think might be an hardware issue?

Hi, @Mauvelousbuzzbuzz338!

Have you tried plugging it into a different USB port? You can also try updating its firmware. If the issue still persists, then you can send me a PM along with your mouse’s serial number so I can check it in our database and look for some workarounds.

I have the Basilisk V3 - wired version and went through this.

Tried everything, firmware, driver removal and reinstall, Synapse reinstall, different USB port, different PC, etc etc.

Massive mess around and a waste of time, out of warranty so no help from store of purchase or Razer.

Eventually found a comment on a thread here and somewhere on reddit about the free wheel scroll actuator failing. It seems to be pretty common for people with this mouse but no real information around.

With Razer’s complete lack of help for anyone outside of their warranty period, regardless of how widespread this issue is, I made a video to help people.
If you cut only the thin ribbon cable leading to the free scroll actuator, you will disable it and the mouse will be functional again but will only have tactile scroll.
You can test if this is your issue before proceeding by unplugging the ribbon cable and testing if the mouse powers up before cutting it.

Hope this helps
