Razer Blackshark V2 — USB Sound Card won't work on my computer

I'll try to be brief but this problem has been troubling me for about 8 hours now, so an explanation is necessary. I apologize in advance if the text seems awkward; English isn't my native language.

The issue is that when I connect the headset via USB Sound Card, it doesn't produce any sound at all, while the microphone works only briefly after turning it on (for about 10–20 seconds) before stopping as well. After spending 8 hours trying to resolve this issue, here are some conclusions I've reached, listed point by point for your convenience:

1. The headphones themselves are fully functional. They passed certification without issues on the official website and work perfectly fine when connected directly through a 3.5 mm jack. It's worth noting that the Sound Card itself also appears to be working properly because when it's plugged into another Windows 10 PC (mine runs Windows 11), the headset reproduces audio through the USB port with no additional settings required.

2. All volume sliders have been set to maximum (all cables are intact and securely connected). This was checked multiple times. When connecting to the PC via USB, the system immediately sets the headphones as the default device. Applications like Discord recognize the device too and automatically select it as the default one, yet there’s still no sound.

3. Every driver on my computer has been updated to its latest version. Specifically, both the drivers recognized by the operating system and those identified by the official Razer program indicate they’re up-to-date. Also, if it might help, I have an audio driver from NVIDIA on my computer (NVIDIA High Definition Audio).

4. I’ve tried every available USB port (both 2.0 and 3.0 ports, front panel and rear panel). Each of them is detected as operational by the system, and the indicator light on the USB Sound Card remains green. Additionally, whenever the card is inserted into any USB port, the system instantly assigns it as the default playback device.

5. Deleting or forgetting the USB Sound Card did not help. I've attempted removal using cmd, regular “Devices” settings within Windows Settings, and even uninstalling the USB Sound Card's drivers from Device Manager. However, none of these methods resolved the issue. Upon rebooting, the USB Sound Card is again automatically reinstalled as the default output device along with its associated drivers.

6. In Razer Synapse 4, the device is present and marked as active. It can be configured manually.

7. My main suspicion currently falls on the line under Device Manager > Sound, video, and game controllers > USB Sound Card > Properties > Events. Yesterday, it read: “Device parameters for SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000\} {28e78441-7c0b-4cb6-9f02-da0cc96ae10d} were not transferred from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous match.” Today, following several attempts to remove the device, the message slightly changed to: “Device parameters for USB\VID_1532&PID_0529&MI_00\7&1af954b&4&0000 were not transferred from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous match.” Searching online didn't yield anything useful.

I’ve done many other things which I don’t recall exactly anymore, but I'll clarify further details if needed. At this point, it feels like something specific to Windows 11 since I couldn’t find anyone else experiencing similar problems. It would be ironic if I had to switch back to Windows 10 just because of these headphones, but what can you do?

Thank you for your response!

I was able to fix it, thank myself for the help (for those who encountered a similar problem, rolling back the system to the last restore point helped me, after which the headphones started working properly).

When connecting the Razer BlackShark V2 via the USB Sound Card, the headset produces no audio while the microphone only works momentarily—indicating potential driver problems, software conflicts, or incorrect default device assignments. Recommended fixes include setting the USB sound card as the default playback and recording device in Windows, reinstalling or updating Synapse and USB audio drivers, testing different USB ports (preferably directly on the computer), and disabling any audio-enhancing software like THX Spatial Audio. One user on the same Razer Insider thread described the issue clearly: “when I connect the headset via USB Sound Card, it doesn't produce any sound at all, while the microphone works only briefly after turning it.

I’ve had similar issues when purchasing a new computer. The Blackshark with the USB sound card worked like an absolute dream on Windows 10. On the newer PC running Windows 11, while running through the USB sound card, the microphone is essentially useless. It sounds like I’m talking through an empty tin can on the opposite side of the room. Plugged directly into the 3.5mm socket, it works as it should, but then I lose all of the enhancements and functionality of the USB sound card. It has been about two years since I swapped over, and every few months, I’ll check the newest drivers and try again, but so far, no good.
